Job Description

We are looking for an organised, proactive and people-focused HR & Payroll Assistant.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 1-2 years' experience in HR and/or payroll who is looking to develop their career within a varied and hands-on role. You will play an important part in supporting the day-to-day HR function, whilst assisting with the accurate and timely processing of payroll.

The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys working with people, is highly organised, has excellent attention to detail and is comfortable handling confidential information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
  • Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems
  • Assisting with starters, leavers and changes to employee information
  • Managing holiday and absence records
  • Supporting the administration of sickness and absence processes
  • Assisting with recruitment, including arranging interviews and preparing new starter documentation
  • Preparing employment documentation, letters and HR correspondence
  • Supporting the onboarding and induction process for new employees
  • Responding to day-to-day HR and payroll queries from employees and managers
  • Maintaining confidential personnel files and ensuring records are kept up to date
  • Assisting with HR reporting and administration
  • Supporting the wider HR team with employee relations and general HR activities
  • Ensuring HR and payroll processes are carried out accurately and in line with company policies and current legislation

About You:

  • 1-2 years' experience in an HR and/or payroll environment
  • Good understanding of HR administration and payroll processes
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A professional and approachable manner
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive employee information
  • Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office
  • The ability to work independently while also being a supportive team player
  • A genuine interest in developing a career within HR

A CIPD qualification or current CIPD studies would be advantageous, but is not essential.

  • Salary of up to £33,000 per annum, depending on experience
