Urgent Requirement: Security Architect/Engineer

Duration: 12 month

Location: Columbia, SC 29201 remote

Note: 100% Remote nationwide, must work Eastern time zone (core hours 0830 0500 ET). No SC residency required, but preference given to SC-based candidates who can assist onsite with hardware/equipment. VPN access, no state equipment issued

Required Skills:

-- BROAD HANDS-ON SECURITY ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE SUPPORTING MULTIPLE CYBERSECURITY TECHNOLOGIES, SYSTEMS, INTEGRATIONS AND OPERATIONAL FUNCTIONS.

-- Experience integrating enterprise technologies using APIs, SDKs, web services, structured data formats, authentication methods and vendor-supported interfaces.

-- Strong experience troubleshooting complex technical issues across applications, security platforms, operating systems, networks, identity services and integrations.

-- LINUX SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT, CONFIGURATION, PATCHING, SCRIPTING, SERVICE MANAGEMENT, MONITORING, TROUBLESHOOTING AND LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT

-- Experience developing automation and response workflows using Python, PowerShell, Bash, REST APIs, JSON, YAML and vendor SDKs.

Prior interview feedback (avoid repeating same misses): candidates from the last round were weak on hands-on automation/workflow depth, Bash-on-Windows misunderstanding, API throttling/data ingestion, error handling in automation, and DNS security (Cisco Umbrella/Secure Access) screen harder on these specifically.

Core skill stack:

Python/PowerShell/Bash automation, REST APIs/JSON/YAML, Linux system administration (deploy/patch/harden), IAM (provisioning, RBAC, service accounts), Docker, SIEM/XDR/SOAR, DSPM/ASM, vulnerability management, security tool integration (Palo Alto, Proofpoint, Tenable, Cribl, WhatsUp Gold). Bachelor's in IT/CS/InfoSec or equivalent, 8 yrs relevant exp, 5 yrs supporting large IT/security environments. Certs (preferred not required): CISSP, Security+, GIAC.
