City of London (Hybrid)

£130,000 - £150,000 per annum + annual discretionary bonus

On behalf of a City of London based financial services organisation, I am seeking an experienced System Architect to define and drive the architectural vision for a strategic technology platform within a large-scale, global enterprise environment. Working closely with Product Managers, Release Train Engineers, and engineering teams, you will shape the architecture roadmap, guide technical delivery, and ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned to business objectives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior architect to influence the design and delivery of complex, business-critical systems while providing technical leadership across multiple engineering teams.

The organisation is pleased to offer the role on a hybrid basis, with 3 days per week required in London, therefore you must be considered

Responsibilities

• Define and communicate the architecture vision across Agile delivery teams
• Translate technical strategy into Epics, Features, and User Stories
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and business goals
• Drive adoption of modern architecture patterns, cloud technologies, and DevOps practices
• Define and manage non-functional requirements including performance, resilience, scalability, and security
• Support CI/CD pipelines, release governance, and engineering best practices
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple teams
• Maintain architecture documentation, standards, and reusable technical assets

Skills & Experience required:

• Extensive experience in System, Solution, or Enterprise Architecture
• Strong software engineering background across Front End, Back End, or Middleware technologies
• Hands-on development experience with technologies such as C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or C++
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS preferred), microservices, containerisation, and APIs
• Experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Git, and DevOps practices
• Experience working within Agile environments
• Knowledge of application and cloud security principles
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
• Front Office or trader-facing applications
• SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)
• Micro-Front End architecture
• Enterprise-scale financial services platforms
