Job Description

A privately held U.S. manufacturing company is seeking an Associate General Counsel at its corporate headquarters in the Midwest. This role supports the business across a broad range of legal matters, including corporate transactions, commercial contracts, intellectual property, marketing and advertising, privacy, information technology, and litigation/claims management. The position reports to the General Counsel and acts as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, partnering closely with business teams to drive practical, solutions-oriented outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive legal guidance and risk assessment across the organization, supporting day-to-day business operations and strategic initiatives
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and corporate agreements, including vendor, customer, and service arrangements
  • Advise on intellectual property matters, branding, marketing/advertising compliance, and technology-related issues
  • Counsel stakeholders on data privacy, information security, and regulatory considerations impacting business operations
  • Support litigation management, claims handling, and dispute resolution, including coordination with outside counsel
  • Develop, implement, and maintain company policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks to mitigate legal risk
  • Partner cross-functionally with finance, HR, operations, and commercial teams to align legal strategy with business goals
  • Leverage AI-enabled legal tools and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, consistency, and quality of legal support

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant law firm and/or in-house experience
  • Strong background in corporate and commercial law with exposure to IP, privacy, and regulatory matters
  • Manufacturing or industrial industry experience preferred
  • Excellent communication, judgment, and stakeholder management skills
  • Juris Doctor; active U.S. bar license (or ability to obtain promptly)
