An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a pivotal role in delivering key aspects of the Education and Families Service ambition to deliver an integrated Educational Establishments Digital Strategy for the period 2027 – 2032.
This project will be managed in accordance with the North Lanarkshire Council Project Management Framework and associated guidance. The successful applicant will assume the role of Project Manager.
The project remit will include:
- The preparation of an overarching Educational Establishments Digital Strategy incorporating the 5 year period August 2027 – July 2032.
- The onboarding of a management information system within North Lanarkshire to replace the SEEMiS product which is being retired.
- The onboarding of an educational excursions management information system for use in schools, nurseries and headquarters teams.
- The onboarding of a banking and payment system for school fund activities.
- The establishment of clear policies referencing the requirement and specifications of digital devices within educational establishments during the period 2027 – 2032.
- The development and integration of digital learning and teaching best practice during the period 2027 – 2032.
- The planned roll out of digital skills and competency training during the period 2027 – 2032.
- The development of a sustainable funding package to support the Educational Establishments Digital Strategy.
- Ensuring the Educational Establishments Digital Strategy to is fully aligned to prevailing wider Council policies and strategies.
North Lanarkshire has in excess of 170 educational establishments including Early Years provision, Primary, Secondary and ASN schools, alongside headquarters teams who will be directly impacted by the development and implementation of the new 5 year digital strategy.
The successful postholder will work alongside the Project Senior Responsible Officer to deliver key milestones from project initiation through to closure. The Project Manager will be expected to manage the project on a day to day basis through the co-ordination and control of activities and tasks outlined in the project plan. Key tasks will include the creation, review and maintenance of project risk registers and issues logs, and the preparation of reports and briefings for the Project Board, Management Teams and other Council committees and forums.
The Project Manager will be a solution focussed, creative thinker as you will be responsible for setting out project execution strategies and identifying and delivering on key business needs. You will require excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills, and experience of working across Council Services and inter-agency working. Educated to a minimum Degree Level qualification or equivalent, you will have project management knowledge and experience, experience of managing staff and of preparing reports and providing advice to senior managers. It is desirable, but not essential that you have experience in SEEMiS applications or other school information systems as well as experience of delivering new or replacement system upgrades. In addition, you will have knowledge of corporate governance and procurement practices in the public sector and ideally have financial management skills and experience.
A further requirement for the Project manager will be to consider and evaluate the potential impact on existing staff of proposed system changes and the resultant requirement and implementation of appropriate training and support programmes.

*For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip. You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
