Software Project Manager Software Delivery & Release Management Internal Work As Well As Client Facing Role Overview A digital consultancy is seeking a proactive Software Project Manager to coordinate software delivery, keep teams focused and help projects move successfully from planning through to completion. This is a blended role, it will initially be focused primarily on internal engineering projects and release management, with the opportunities then to take on external customer-facing projects over time. You will work closely with engineering teams to establish priorities, coordinate activities, track progress and ensure that everyone understands what needs to happen next. These are traditional enterprise software delivery projects rather than SaaS implementations, so careful planning and coordination across each delivery phase are central to the role. Why This Role You will play a central role in bringing structure to engineering work, coordinating releases and helping teams meet their commitments. Each project typically lasts around a year, which will give you exposure to the full delivery lifecycle, from initial workshops and requirements capture through to deployment and go-live in a variety of different environments. Recent project wins and developing distributor partnerships have create a plethora of opportunities to support new projects as the business grows and unlike many consultancy-based roles, this would require minimum travel, perhaps once every 6 months only. What You Will Be Doing Plan and coordinate internal software projects, turning priorities into clear activities, milestones and delivery schedules. Work with engineering colleagues to clarify responsibilities, track dependencies and keep work moving. Coordinate release planning and readiness, ensuring that outstanding tasks, testing requirements and delivery risks are understood. Monitor progress against agreed plans, identify potential delays early and help the team resolve blockers. Run focused project meetings, capture decisions and actions, and follow up to ensure commitments are completed. Maintain clear project documentation and provide timely updates on progress, risks and next steps. Help teams manage changing priorities while keeping delivery expectations realistic and transparent. Facilitate requirements workshops and discussions, helping customers articulate their needs and ensuring these are clearly documented. Maintain regular customer progress meetings, particularly during the early stages when requirements capture and alignment are especially important. Track project scope, milestones, risks and issues, raising concerns early and supporting practical solutions. What You Need to Have 2+ years of relevant project management or project delivery experience. Experience managing software projects or coordinating engineering delivery. Familiarity with software development terminology, testing, release management and deployment processes. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain progress, issues and next steps to different audiences. A proactive approach to identifying risks, resolving blockers and keeping projects on track. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and build productive relationships with stakeholders. Experience gathering and documenting requirements, facilitating workshops or managing customer progress meetings.
