Job Description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer Mid to support a company focused on delivering secure, large-scale enterprise network engineering and operations for mission-critical Department of Defense environments. This position is on-site at Pearl Harbor, HI (PRLH), with alternate locations available in Whidbey Island, WA (WHDB) or Norfolk, VA (NRFK). The Systems Engineer Mid will provide advanced network engineering, Tier III troubleshooting, configuration management, and operational support across a geographically dispersed enterprise network environment. Responsibilities for the Systems Engineer Mid include:

  • Lead Tier III troubleshooting and resolution of complex network issues across LAN/WAN/WLAN, routing, switching, SD-WAN, VPN, and network security technologies.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and network sensors.
  • Develop Engineering Implementation Plans (EIPs), manage change requests, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and support configuration baseline management.
  • Perform lab validation and pre-production testing for firmware upgrades, security patches, and network configuration changes prior to deployment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams within a SAFe Agile environment using JIRA to support enterprise network enhancements and future architecture initiatives.
Required Qualifications for the Systems Engineer Mid include:
  • 8+ years of relevant experience with enterprise network engineering, administration, troubleshooting, and operations support (or 6+ years with a Master's degree).
  • Experience supporting LAN/WAN/WLAN, network boundary engineering, routing, switching, SD-WAN, MPLS, VPNs, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, multicast, and network security technologies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills with experience serving as a Tier III escalation resource and technical SME.
  • Bachelor's degree and 8-12 years of experience, or Master's degree and 6-10 years of experience; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Active Secret Clearance required with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret eligibility.
  • DoD 8570.01 IAT Level III Certification (CASP+, CISSP, CCNP Security, or equivalent).
  • Cisco or equivalent networking certification (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or similar).
Compensation for the Systems Engineer Mid include:
  • Salary Range: $XXX,XXX - $XXX,XXX depending on experience
