The Role
- Lead the systems engineering efforts for developing new maritime robotics systems with advanced software and sensing capabilities, including defining design reference missions, requirements, and performance metrics.
- Apply systems engineering best practices, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering, to the development and transition of autonomy and uncrewed vehicle technologies.
- Mentor and lead multidisciplinary technical teams in conducting design trade studies, requirements analysis, mission modeling, and prototyping for maritime uncrewed systems.
- Oversee the end-to-end process of designing, integrating, and testing autonomous and remotely operated maritime vehicles and their control software.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on maritime robotics best practices and emerging trends to project teams and sponsors.
- Collaborate directly with US Navy stakeholders and industry partners to ensure successful project outcomes and modernization of acquisition approaches.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant Systems Engineering experience, preferably with US Navy or DOD platforms.
- Proven experience in developing and integrating uncrewed vehicles, autonomy software, or maritime systems.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead technical engineering teams through the system lifecycle: studies, requirements, design, prototyping, integration, and testing.
- Experience working within a US Navy or other government sponsor's DOD research and development and/or acquisition environment.
- Strong organizational, planning, interpersonal, and communication (written and oral) skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and ultimately a Secret level clearance.
