Software Engineer (Equities & Fixed Income)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Software Engineer (Equities & Fixed Income). This role is 6 months with extension. The position is Remote - EST hours.

Summary

We are seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to support the modernization of legacy enterprise applications and migration to AWS cloud services. This role focuses on application upgrades, database migration, enterprise integrations, deployment support, and production readiness while maintaining existing business functionality.

Responsibilities

• Modernize and migrate Java/Groovy applications to AWS
• Enhance applications using Spring Boot and Gradle
• Support PostgreSQL migrations to AWS-managed database services
• Maintain integrations with APIs, databases, file transfer services, messaging platforms, and scheduling tools
• Support deployment, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting activities
• Resolve application, database, cloud, and connectivity issues
• Participate in testing, cutover planning, rollback activities, and production support
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, security, and operations teams

REQUIREMENTS

• Java and/or Groovy development experience
• Spring Boot and Gradle
• PostgreSQL and advanced SQL skills
• AWS services including S3, SNS, SQS, CloudWatch, Parameter Store, and container registries
• REST/HTTP API integration experience
• SFTP/FTP
• Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting
• Enterprise application integration experience
• Strong problem-solving skills across application, database, and infrastructure layers
• Experience supporting or modernizing legacy systems
• Fluent English communication skills

• AWS migration projects
• Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL or RDS
• GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools
• Docker and containerization
• TLS/mTLS and certificate-based authentication
• AWS networking (VPCs, subnets, security groups, DNS)
• EFS, FSx, Terraform, or Puppet
• Enterprise messaging platforms
• Cloud data platforms and analytics environments
• Production cutover and release management experience

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
