Position Overview
This role is vital to the success of the client''s utility modernization initiative and requires deep expertise in SAP IS-U Energy Data Management, utility operations, and enterprise-scale system integration. The consultant will lead functional design, configuration, testing, and optimization of SAP EDM solutions to support accurate energy consumption management, interval data processing, settlement, validation, and integration across SAP IS-U modules and external smart metering ecosystems.

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Consultant will be provided a travel schedule

Duration: 2.5+ Year Program

Key Responsibilities

• Provide SAP IS-U EDM functional expertise in designing and configuring solutions to meet utility business and regulatory requirements
• Gather and analyze business requirements related to:

  • Editing (VEE)
  • Settlement
  • Load profiles
  • Market communication
• Develop and maintain:
  • Business blueprints
  • Functional specifications
  • Configuration documentation
  • Test scripts
  • Process flows
  • Data models
• Configure SAP IS-U EDM functionality, including:
  • Profile values
  • Load profiles
  • Interval data management
  • Settlement units
  • RTP processes
  • VEE rules
  • Data aggregation
  • Forecasting support
• Support integration with:
  • SAP Device Management
  • Billing
  • FICA
  • CRM
  • AMI / Smart Meter platforms
  • MDM systems
  • External market systems
• Lead and support:
  • Unit Testing
  • System Integration Testing (SIT)
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Defect management
  • Production support
  • Hypercare
• Ensure data quality, system performance, and compliance with utility market standards
• Manage work plans and project deliverables for the EDM workstream
• Coordinate with onshore and offshore functional and technical teams
• Validate deliverables for quality and completeness
• Facilitate stakeholder reviews and approvals
• Support enterprise data migration and reconciliation efforts
• Provide strategic guidance on EDM architecture and utility market operations
• Support operational readiness, training, and process optimization initiatives

Required Qualifications
Mandatory:

• Previous Public Utility industry experience (required)
• 5–7+ years of hands-on SAP IS-U EDM implementation experience
• Strong expertise in:
  • SAP Energy Data Management
  • Functional design

  • Utility settlement processes
• Full lifecycle SAP IS-U implementation experience
• Strong experience with:
  • VEE (Validation, Estimation, Editing)

• Deep knowledge of:
  • Utility technical and business master data
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Energy market processes
• Experience integrating EDM with:

• Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills
• Ability to work directly with client business and technical experts
• Proven experience supporting enterprise-scale utility transformation programs

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP S/4HANA utilities transformation experience
• Advanced AMI / Smart Grid integration experience
• Experience with:
  • Market settlement
  • Deregulated utility markets
  • Forecasting

  • Advanced data reconciliation
• Experience with enterprise MDM solutions
• Prior electric and gas utility transformation experience
• Agile or hybrid project methodology experience
• Leadership experience in large-scale utility programs
• Familiarity with cloud utility platforms and advanced analytics
