Quality Engineer

Quality Engineer Location: Telford / Hybrid - 2 days per week onsite<br />Rate: £430 per day inside IR35<br />Contract: 6 months<br />Clearance: BPSS eligible We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a major public sector modernisation programme.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Scrum team, taking ownership of quality across the development lifecycle and helping to embed a Quality Engineering and shift-left approach.

Key Responsibilities Design and implement automated test solutions and frameworks, often from scratch.<br />Apply structured testing approaches aligned with TDD/BDD.<br />Develop and maintain automated testing throughout the CI/CD lifecycle.<br />Apply risk-based testing and effective test design techniques.<br />Ensure applications are built with automation and testability in mind.<br />Test across Unit, System, Functional and Integration levels.<br />Support NFR testing including performance, accessibility and security.<br />Work with databases and test data creation/management.<br />Analyse complex business requirements, processes and technical architectures to develop effective test solutions.<br />Coach and upskill developers and wider engineering teams on quality practices.<br />Work collaboratively with developers, including through pair programming.<br />Support manual testing where automation is not appropriate.<br />Ensure testing collateral is maintained to a high standard.<br />Engage with stakeholders and contribute to a strong quality-focused culture.

Essential Skills Strong experience as a Quality Engineer, Automation Test Engineer or SDET.<br />Strong software testing and automation experience.<br />CI/CD experience.<br />Git / GitLab.<br />Java / Spring.<br />TDD / BDD understanding.<br />Strong test analysis, test design and risk-based testing skills.<br />Experience across multiple test levels.<br />Database and test data experience.<br />Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.<br />Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams.<br />Proven coaching and team engagement skills.<br />Ability to adapt and context switch across different priorities.
