- Link Technologies (LinkTechConsulting.com), a Las Vegas-based IT consulting firm, is currently seeking a Microsoft Fabric Technical Consultant to join our team in Denver, CO. This position does offer the opportunity to work remotely.
The Microsoft Fabric Technical Consultant will design, validate, and implement Microsoft Fabric capabilities that support enterprise data, analytics, and reporting strategy. The consultant will provide practical expertise across Fabric workspaces, OneLake, Lakehouse, and Warehouse patterns, Data Factory pipelines, semantic models, Power BI integration, capacity planning, security, governance, deployment practices, and knowledge transfer.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with modern Microsoft data and analytics platforms
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure Data Factory or Fabric Data Factory, Lakehouse and Warehouse architecture, OneLake, semantic modeling, data governance, deployment pipelines, and enterprise reporting environments.
DELIVERABLES
- Microsoft Fabric Technical Assessment - Summary of current state, target-state considerations, risks, gaps, and prioritized recommendations.
- Reference Architecture and Implementation Roadmap - Recommended Fabric architecture, workspace model, capacity approach, data engineering patterns, governance model, and phased implementation plan.
- Standards and Operating Procedures - Recommended naming conventions, access model, deployment practices, monitoring approach, source control practices, and environment promotion process.
- Prototype or Proof-of-Concept Support - hands-on support for one or more representative Fabric workloads, such as ingestion pipeline, Lakehouse or Warehouse model, semantic model, Direct Lake report, or governance workflow.
- Knowledge Transfer and Final Presentation - Live walkthrough with documentation, recommendations, open decisions, and Q&A for stakeholders.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess and Validate Microsoft Fabric Architecture
- Review current and planned Microsoft Fabric architecture, including tenant settings, workspaces, capacities, domains, data stores, integration patterns, and Power BI dependencies.
- Recommend practical architecture patterns for OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, semantic models, Direct Lake, data pipelines, and reporting workloads.
- Develop Fabric Data Engineering Patterns
- Design and document reusable ingestion, transformation, and orchestration patterns using Fabric Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, notebooks, Lakehouse tables, Warehouse objects, and medallion-style data layers where appropriate.
- Support integration planning for enterprise source systems, operational data feeds, reporting datasets, APIs, files, and existing Azure or Microsoft 365 data assets.
- Implement Governance, Security, and Administration Practices
- Review and recommend Fabric tenant settings, workspace roles, capacity administration, deployment controls, sensitivity labels, endorsement practices, lineage, access patterns, and integration with Microsoft Purview governance capabilities.
- Define role-based access and environment separation practices for development, test, and production workloads.
- Support Capacity Planning and Performance Optimization
- Assess Fabric capacity sizing, workload placement, throttling risks, refresh patterns, query performance, storage usage, monitoring, and cost management considerations.
- Recommend operational dashboards, metrics, alerts, and runbooks to help DEN manage Fabric adoption at scale.
- Establish DevOps and Deployment Practices
- Recommend source control, deployment pipeline, release management, environment promotion, naming standards, and documentation practices for Fabric workspaces and artifacts.
- Support repeatable implementation patterns for semantic models, reports, notebooks, pipelines, Lakehouses, Warehouses, shortcuts, and shared datasets.
- Provide Knowledge Transfer and Technical Enablement
- Provide hands-on guidance, working sessions, documentation, and walkthroughs for staff responsible for Fabric administration, engineering, governance, and Power BI reporting.
- Document recommended standards, decision points, design patterns, risks, dependencies, and next steps for operationalizing Microsoft Fabric.
