Category Analyst

Job Overview

We are seeking a Category Analyst with experience in retail category management, space planning, merchandising, or CPG/beverage industries. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and experience translating shopper, consumer, category, and product insights into actionable retail strategies.

This is an office-based role in Irving, TX with potential opportunities to work directly with retail customers and gain customer-facing experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Support category management and retail space planning initiatives.

• Analyze shopper, consumer, category, product, and demographic data.

• Develop recommendations that drive category growth and improve retail performance.

• Work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, category management, and other teams.

• Support planograms, assortment planning, shelf-space optimization, and merchandising strategies.

• Manage projects and communicate insights/recommendations to stakeholders.

• Potentially interact directly with retail customers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.

• 2+ years of experience in Category Management, Category Analysis, Retail Analytics, Merchandising, or Space Planning preferred.

• Experience with JDA, Blue Yonder, Apollo, or Spaceman.

• Familiarity with syndicated data such as Nielsen, NielsenIQ, IRI/Circana, demographic data, and panel data.

• Experience with digital category management tools such as Numerator.

• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, communication, and project management skills.

• Ability to synthesize multiple data sources and convert insights into actionable recommendations.

Preferred

• Experience supporting major retailers such as Walmart, Kroger, Meijer, Sam's Club, or similar organizations.

• Experience with planograms and retail space optimization.
