Power BI Developer with Tableau
Johns Creek, GA
Long term contract
 
We are looking for a skilled Power BI Developer with hands-on experience in Tableau to join our Business Intelligence team. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports that turn raw data into actionable business insights. You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to understand reporting needs and deliver scalable, high-performance BI solutions primarily in Power BI, while also supporting and migrating existing Tableau reports where needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and publish interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI (and Tableau where applicable)
  • Write efficient DAX measures/calculated columns and Power Query (M) transformations
  • Build and optimize data models (star schema, relationships, hierarchies) for performance and scalability
  • Connect Power BI/Tableau to various data sources (SQL Server, Azure, Excel, APIs, cloud data warehouses)
  • Migrate or replicate existing Tableau dashboards into Power BI as required
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Implement row-level security (RLS) and manage user access/permissions
  • Monitor and optimize report performance, query efficiency, and refresh schedules
  • Maintain data accuracy, consistency, and governance across reports
  • Create documentation for data models, ETL processes, and report logic
  • Stay current with Power BI/Tableau updates and BI best practices

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related field
  • 7 years of hands-on experience with Power BI (Desktop & Service)
  • Working knowledge of Tableau Desktop/Server for dashboard development or migration projects
  • Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M language), and data modeling concepts
  • Solid understanding of SQL for querying and transforming data
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts (star/snowflake schema, fact/dimension tables)
  • Familiarity with ETL tools/processes and data integration
  • Experience connecting to various data sources (SQL Server, Azure Synapse, SharePoint, Excel, REST APIs, etc.)
  • Understanding of Row-Level Security (RLS) and data governance practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Power BI certification (PL-300) is a plus
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Databricks
  • Exposure to Python or R for advanced analytics
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum project methodologies
  • Prior experience leading a Tableau-to-Power BI migration project
