THE POSITION

The goal of the Trading Research & Analytics (TRA) team is to harness data to improve overall execution results for our clients. The Wellington Trading desk is a fast paced, collaborative team environment where impactful decisions are made every day to help

exceed our clients' investment expectations. The TRA team works closely with our trading desk, internal groups (such as Investment Science and Trading Technology) and external parties (such as data vendors and the dealer community).

The Trading Research & Analytics Co-op will focus the following responsibilities:
  • Produce detailed research reports for the Traders and the Trading Desk on trading activity, execution quality, liquidity and transaction costs to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with traders, portfolio managers, and relationship managers to answer client and business questions through analysis of trading and execution data.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of large-scale trading and execution datasets to identify trends, investigate anomalies, validate methodologies, and support business decision-making, client reporting, and execution analysis.
  • Maintain and enhance trading analytics data platforms, our data lake, reporting workflows, and dashboards that deliver actionable insights to traders and clients.
  • Take ownership of a longer-term project that delivers lasting value to the team, such as enhancing existing tools, automating manual processes, or leading research initiatives.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on accuracy, concision, and timeliness.
  • Experience using Python, SQL, Tableau, and other analytical tools to analyze large datasets and generate insights.
  • Familiarity with and interest in financial markets, trading, and investment processes.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ownership, with a willingness to identify opportunities, drive improvements, and see projects through to completion. ‌

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:
$19-$35 per hour
This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.

Base salary is only one component of Wellington's total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
