Job Description

NCDIT Knowledge Manager
Client: State of North Carolina (NCDIT)
Location: Raleigh, NC Hybrid (onsite 1 day/month)
Experience: 12+ years
Role Summary
Seeking an experienced Knowledge Manager to develop, govern, and improve enterprise knowledge assets across NCDIT and supported state agencies. The candidate will manage knowledge repositories, content governance, taxonomy, metadata, search, and knowledge-sharing initiatives while working closely with SMEs, IT teams, and business stakeholders.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
  • 12+ years of professional experience in Knowledge Management, Information Management, Information Science, or a related field.
  • Strong experience with Knowledge Management strategy, roadmap development, governance, and lifecycle management.
  • Hands-on experience developing taxonomies, metadata schemas, content classification, and information architecture.
  • Experience managing enterprise content repositories, document management, and digital knowledge assets.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Teams or similar enterprise collaboration platforms.
  • Experience integrating knowledge/content with intranets, portals, databases, ECM platforms, or ITSM systems.
  • Experience with knowledge capture, documentation, archiving, cataloging, records retention, and legacy knowledge transition.
  • Strong skills in research, information gathering, analysis, validation, and synthesis.
  • Experience working with SMEs, content owners, process owners, IT teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong requirements gathering, stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear business/user-facing content.
  • Knowledge of data privacy, information security, records retention, and copyright requirements.
  • Understanding of project management fundamentals and experience managing multiple KM initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and customer-service skills.
Preferred
  • KCS (Knowledge-Centered Service) certification.
  • ITIL certification.
  • Knowledge Management, Library & Information Science, or Information Science degree.
  • Experience in government/public-sector IT environments.
  • Experience with enterprise KM tools, search technologies, content management platforms, and digital collaboration solutions.
Work Arrangement
  • Primarily remote.
  • Onsite in Raleigh approximately once per month.
  • Candidates must be comfortable supporting a statewide enterprise environment and collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
