Job Title: Senior Integration Developer SAP Integration Suite & EDI Remote Role
Summary:
The Senior Integration Developer is our subject matter expert for SAP Integration Suite in a manufacturing environment.
This role designs, builds, and supports the integrations that connect SAP with the enterprise and partner systems behind production, supply chain, procurement, finance, and quality, including ERP, EPLM, HRM, and other manufacturing applications.
The role also owns the technical delivery of B2B and EDI integrations with suppliers, customers, carriers, and banks.
Working closely with Digital (IT), Operations, and Business teams, the Senior Integration Developer sets integration standards, resolves complex data exchange issues, and keeps business-critical interfaces reliable.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
SAP Integration Suite Subject Matter Expertise:
Serve as the technical authority for SAP Integration Suite, including Cloud Integration (CPI), API Management, Event Mesh, and Integration Advisor.
Define integration patterns, naming conventions, error-handling and retry frameworks, and reusable components that all integration developers follow.
Review iFlow designs and code from internal and partner developers, and coach and mentor team members.
Advise on tenant strategy, transport management, security, and message-volume planning for the integration platform.
Design & Build Integrations:
Collaborate with business units, Digital (IT) teams, and external partners to analyze integration requirements and translate them into interface specifications.
Design and build iFlows connecting SAP S/4HANA and ECC with cloud, on-premise, and manufacturing systems using IDoc, OData, REST, SOAP, RFC, SFTP, AS2, and JMS adapters, with message mapping, Groovy scripting, and XSLT.
Connect cloud and on-premise systems securely through SAP Cloud Connector, and publish and secure APIs through SAP API Management.
Migrate interfaces from SAP PI/PO to Integration Suite, redesigning them where needed rather than moving them as-is.
EDI & B2B Integration:
Design and deliver EDI integrations with trading partners using ANSI X12 and EDIFACT standards, including purchase orders, acknowledgments, advance ship notices, invoices, remittances, and functional acknowledgments (850, 855, 856, 810, 820, 997).
Map EDI documents to and from SAP IDocs (such as ORDERS, ORDRSP, DESADV, and INVOIC) and resolve partner and document exceptions.
Build message and mapping guidelines and partner agreements using SAP Integration Advisor and Trading Partner Management where adopted.
Onboard new trading partners, including connectivity (AS2, SFTP, or VAN), certificate exchange, partner testing, and go-live.
Operate, Monitor, & Improve:
Establish monitoring, alerting, and message tracing for all integrations, and lead the resolution of production integration incidents.
Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent fixes that improve reliability, performance, and data accuracy across systems.
Provide knowledge transfer, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides to Production Support teams.
Maintain Documentation:
Create and update technical documentation, including integration architecture diagrams, interface and mapping specifications, partner set-up records, and troubleshooting guides.
Ensure Data Security & Compliance:
Ensure integration solutions comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, particularly related to manufacturing and financial data.
Apply secure authentication and encryption (OAuth, certificates, and PGP), and manage the keys and certificates used for partner connections.
Test & Deploy:
Develop unit, integration, and partner test scripts, and engage business customers appropriately in testing activities.
Create and execute deployment plans for integration solutions using the team's transport and CI/CD process.
Participate In Project Management:
Contribute to integration-related projects by providing technical expertise, estimates, status updates, and risk assessments.
Build trusted working relationships across Digital teams, business customers, and external partners.
Minimum Experience:
7+ years Integration development with middleware, including 4+ years of hands-on SAP Integration Suite (CPI) development with interfaces delivered to production, and hands-on delivery of EDI integrations with trading partners.
Preferred Experience:
10+ years Solutioning manufacturing integrations in an Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) environment, including 3+ years designing and supporting EDI/B2B integrations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Expert-level SAP Integration Suite (CPI): iFlow design, adapters, message mapping, Groovy scripting, XSLT, exception subprocesses, JMS or data store retry, and monitoring.
Strong command of IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, OData, REST and SOAP APIs, and message formats including XML, JSON, CSV, and flat files.
Experience with SAP PI/PO and with SAP Cloud Connector for secure on-premise connectivity.
Working knowledge of EDI standards (ANSI X12 and/or EDIFACT), common transaction sets, and mapping EDI to and from SAP IDocs.
Experience with B2B connectivity, including AS2, SFTP, and VAN, and with certificate and PGP key management.
Experience with SAP API Management and integration security standards, including OAuth 2.0 and certificate-based authentication.
Proficient in SQL and data querying techniques to analyze and validate data.
Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices, Git, and SAP Cloud Transport Management.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication with technical teams, business stakeholders, and external partners; able to lead technical discussions and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
SAP Integration Advisor and Trading Partner Management within Integration Suite.
SAP Certified Associate or Professional certification in SAP Integration Suite.
Event-driven integration with SAP Event Mesh or Advanced Event Mesh, and SAP Edge Integration Cell.
Experience with other integration or EDI platforms, such as MuleSoft, Boomi, IBM Sterling, OpenText, or SPS Commerce, and with Azure integration services.
Experience integrating SAP with procurement platforms such as Coupa.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain processes (procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, production) and integration best practices.
