About the opportunityThe Image X Institute is a centre for innovation in radiation therapy and medical imaging technologies. Our research portfolio spans development of new treatment ideas, clinical trials, preclinical imaging, device development, MRI-Physics, radiation therapy physics, and computational physics. We engage with industry, hospitals, international collaborators and universities to forge relationships that help take our projects from lab bench to patient bedside. Here, you will have the opportunity to participate in a wide ranging and multi-disciplinary research program. We are seeking a Software Engineer ( HEO 7) to join the Image X Institute to advance technologies that improve thoracic and abdominal imaging technologies. This position is part of a program funded by an NHMRC Ideas Grant focused on liver cancer treatment. You will lead and contribute to the development and clinical translation of image guidance technologies.
- Lead the development and maintenance of software for cutting-edge technologies in real-time image-guidance of the thorax and abdomen
- Curate databases and code central to the aims of the grant
- Author high-impact publications and present at international conferences
- Support students and junior researchers
- Develop software solutions, ensuring scalability and performance.
- Coordinate the architectural design and system planning for software projects
- Oversee the testing process and implement automated testing frameworks
- Coordinate deployment pipelines and ensure efficient software deployment
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for software
- Foster open communication and collaboration within the team, addressing stakeholder queries and concerns in a timely manner, while building trust within immediate work networks
- Oversee report compilation to meet established standards, proactively identify compliance improvements, and collaborate with the team to rectify discrepancies
- Monitor risk within the team, promote workplace health and safety, ensure alignment with university policies, and proactively address potential challenges.
- A Masters in Software Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Experience with medical imaging or devices
- Experience integrating novel technologies with clinical systems
- Experience contributing to or working with teams
- Recognition through awards and scholarships
- Experience With testing frameworks and front end and back end development of web-based applications
- Delivering solutions in an Agile/Scrum environment.
