Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer with deep, hands-on Palo Alto Networks firewall expertise to design, implement, operate, and troubleshoot our enterprise network security infrastructure. Serving as the primary technical resource for Palo Alto and Panorama , you will also support routing, switching, VPNs, and cloud connectivity to maintain secure, 24x7 highly available operations within a complex healthcare environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Firewall Administration: Design, configure, and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls using Panorama, including security policies, App-ID, User-ID, URL filtering, and threat prevention.
- Network Connectivity: Configure and support NAT, site-to-site IPsec VPNs, GlobalProtect remote access, high-availability pairs, and advanced routing through firewalls.
- Lifecycle Management: Lead software upgrades, content updates, hardware refreshes, and vulnerability remediations.
- Incident Response: Investigate complex connectivity and security issues using packet captures, session analysis, traffic logs, and diagnostic tools.
- Change Governance: Evaluate and execute production infrastructure changes through established peer-review and validation processes.
- Core Infrastructure Support: Assist in managing routers, switches, load balancers, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, and cloud connectivity.
- Documentation & Rotation: Maintain accurate network diagrams and standard operating procedures while participating in an after-hours on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
- Palo Alto Expertise: Substantial hands-on experience administering Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama in a large enterprise environment.
- Network Security Foundations: Strong command of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, network segmentation, and advanced traffic/log analysis.
- Enterprise Networking: Proven experience supporting platforms like Cisco, Aruba/HPE, Dell, F5, or SD-WAN technologies.
- Change Management: Demonstrated success planning and executing complex production upgrades and migrations with clear rollback plans.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry Experience: Background in healthcare or other highly regulated, 24x7 high-availability environments.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with Azure/AWS networking, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, or cloud-hosted firewalls.
- Automation: Familiarity with scripting or automation tools for network validation, reporting, and policy analysis.
