Job Description

Role Summary

A cybersecurity engineer position focused on supporting information assurance, system security officer activities, and vulnerability management for a Coast Guard-related project. The role involves maintaining security compliance, managing risk documentation, and executing technical security tasks. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to network security operations and ongoing system modernization efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and maintain Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation, System Security Plans (SSP), and Security Assessment Reports (SAR) to support system authorization processes.
  • Track, prioritize, and manage vulnerability tickets and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) items to ensure timely resolution.
  • Complete and maintain security documentation within theEnterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) platform.
  • Perform technical testing, run security scans, and document compliance evidence meeting mandatory security controls.
  • Execute network and local machine security patching on the local area network (LAN) for approximately 16 hours weekly.
  • Lead local hardware deployment projects, including configuring, imaging, and setting up Windows 10 replacement computers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including leadership, to implement security controls effectively.
  • Support system security compliance activities in accordance with DoD and federal cybersecurity standards.
  • Maintain active understanding of vulnerability assessments, applicable security protocols, and system configuration standards.
  • Engage in continuous improvement of cybersecurity posture through documentation updates and technical support.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent with 9+ years of relevant experience or equivalent technical background.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification such as Security+ CE, CySA+, or an equivalent credential.
  • Experience in cybersecurity, system administration, network support, or engineering roles.
  • Proven ability to manage vulnerability tickets, POA&Ms, and execute remediation plans.
  • Hands-on experience with security scans, vulnerability assessment tools, and maintaining compliance artifacts.
  • Proficiency in routine software and network patching within Windows environments and LAN configurations.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Willingness or ability to work flexible hours, including afternoons or start times of 10:00 AM or later.

Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 - $55.00 hourly

This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
