Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have strong payroll management experience, hands-on experience with UKG, and a solid understanding of California state payroll compliance. The candidate should be detail-oriented, comfortable handling payroll-related issues, and able to work effectively with HR, Finance, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee end-to-end payroll operations.
• Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in accordance with established schedules.
• Utilize UKG for payroll processing, reporting, employee data, and payroll-related activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Maintain strong knowledge of California state payroll compliance, including applicable payroll rules and requirements.
• Review payroll calculations, deductions, taxes, and other payroll-related transactions.
• Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll issues.
• Prepare and review payroll reports and reconciliations.
• Support payroll audits and ensure appropriate payroll documentation and records are maintained.
• Partner with HR, Finance, and other stakeholders to resolve payroll-related questions and issues.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive employee and payroll information.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Stay current with changes in payroll regulations and compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Payroll Manager, Payroll Lead, or similar senior payroll role.
• Strong experience managing end-to-end payroll operations.
• Hands-on experience with UKG.
• Strong knowledge of California state payroll compliance.
• Understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple payroll priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Must be willing to work onsite 3 4 days per week in Illinois or Wisconsin.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Payroll Manager with strong payroll operations experience, solid UKG expertise, and demonstrated knowledge of California payroll compliance.

The candidate must be located in or able to work onsite in Illinois or Wisconsin 3 days per week and should be comfortable with an initial 6-month contract engagement.
