Lifting Equipment Engineer (Overhead Crane Specialist)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Lifting Equipment Engineer with specialised experience in overhead gantry cranes to join our expanding field service team. In this role, you will be the face of their company, delivering high-quality maintenance, statutory inspections, and emergency repair services to a diverse portfolio of industrial clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct statutory examinations, testing, and certification of overhead cranes and lifting gear in strict accordance with LOLER and PUWER regulations.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex electrical and mechanical faults on various crane types, hoists, and lifting attachments.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimise client downtime.
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning, and modernisation of new lifting systems.
  • Complete detailed digital inspection reports and safety certificates accurately and promptly.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call breakdown rota to support our client's key clients.

What They Are Looking For:

  • A time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proven hands-on experience working specifically on overhead gantry cranes, jib cranes, and wire rope hoists.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills, including the ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams.
  • LEEA (Lifting Equipment Engineers Association) qualifications are highly desirable.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in heavy industrial environments.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
