Job Description

  • Monday to Thursday
  • 7am - 7pm Dayshift
  • Salary up to £50,000
Talent Guardian is recruiting on behalf of an established food manufacturer seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join its Birmingham site. You will maintain production machinery and site facilities, respond quickly to breakdowns and carry out planned preventative maintenance. Working closely with production and engineering colleagues, you will help minimise downtime while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and food compliance.Key responsibilities
  • Respond to machinery breakdowns, identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance to ensure equipment runs efficiently.
  • Support production teams to minimise downtime and maintain line performance.
  • Accurately record all maintenance work using the relevant systems.
  • Escalate major faults and breakdowns when required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives.
  • Follow GMP, food safety, quality and health and safety procedures.
  • Keep tools, equipment and working areas organised and well maintained.
About you
  • Previous experience in a hands-on maintenance or engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience completing planned maintenance and responding to breakdowns.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills and confidence using maintenance systems.
Experience within food manufacturing or FMCG, high-speed packaging machinery, PLCs or continuous improvement would be particularly advantageous.
