Job Description

Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with a strong gas background to manage the successful delivery of mechanical and gas projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover.

The successful candidate will have proven experience managing mechanical and gas installation projects, with responsibility for programme, commercial performance, procurement, subcontractors, health & safety, quality and client relationships.

This is a hands-on project management role requiring strong technical knowledge of commercial/industrial gas systems, mechanical services, installation, testing and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities Manage mechanical and gas projects from initial planning through to completion and handover.<br />Take overall responsibility for project programme, budget, quality and delivery.<br />Manage gas installation works, including coordination of pipework, plant, equipment and associated mechanical services.<br />Review and interpret drawings, specifications, schematics and technical documentation.<br />Coordinate design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning activities.<br />Manage mechanical and gas subcontractors, engineers, suppliers and site teams.<br />Liaise with clients, consultants, principal contractors, designers and other project stakeholders.<br />Develop and maintain detailed project programmes and monitor progress against key milestones.<br />Manage project costs, variations, valuations, forecasts and commercial performance.<br />Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.<br />Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, specialist services and subcontractors.<br />Ensure gas and mechanical works comply with applicable legislation, industry standards, project specifications and company procedures.<br />Coordinate inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of gas and mechanical systems.<br />Ensure appropriate documentation is completed, including test certificates, commissioning records, O&amp;M manuals and as-built information.<br />Attend and lead project meetings, providing regular progress updates to clients and senior management.<br />Manage project handover, snagging and close-out.<br />Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with approved RAMS and site requirements.<br />Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental performance.<br />Provide technical support and guidance to site teams where required.

Key Requirements Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within the construction, building services, utilities or engineering sector.<br />Significant experience delivering gas and mechanical projects.<br />Strong understanding of commercial and/or industrial gas systems.<br />Experience managing projects from pre-construction through to completion.<br />Strong knowledge of mechanical installation, pipework and plant.<br />Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.<br />Ability to read and interpret mechanical, gas and engineering drawings.<br />Strong understanding of project programmes, costs and commercial management.<br />Excellent client and stakeholder management skills.<br />Strong understanding of health &amp; safety requirements.<br />Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.<br />Ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously Qualifications &amp; Certifications Ideally, you will have:

HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.<br />Relevant gas industry qualifications and/or experience.<br />SMSTS or equivalent.<br />CSCS or relevant site-based qualification.<br />Relevant project management qualification such as APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent.<br />Experience working under NEC, JCT or similar construction contracts.<br />Relevant professional membership such as CIBSE, IMechE or equivalent would be advantageous
