Location: Remote


Full Time Only





The pay range for this role is $110K Max per annum including any bonuses or variable pay. 8+ years of Business Analysis experience with at least 3 years in Healthcare Laboratory Systems (LIS/LIMS)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong Healthcare and Laboratory Information System (LIS/LIMS) expertise to bridge business needs and technology solutions. The ideal candidate will work closely with laboratory operations, clinical stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to gather requirements, analyze business processes, support system implementations, and drive digital transformation initiatives across laboratory workflows.

The candidate should possess a solid understanding of clinical laboratory operations, healthcare interoperability standards, and laboratory system integrations.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements Management

  • Gather, analyze, document, and validate business and functional requirements from laboratory and clinical stakeholders.
  • Conduct workshops, stakeholder interviews, and process-mapping sessions.
  • Create Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), user stories, use cases, and process flows.
  • Translate complex laboratory workflows into system requirements and technical specifications.
  • Facilitate requirement prioritization and scope management.

Laboratory Information Systems (LIS/LIMS)

  • Analyze and optimize laboratory workflows including:
    • Order Management
    • Specimen Collection & Tracking
    • Accessioning
    • Test Processing
    • Quality Control
    • Result Management & Reporting
  • Support LIS/LIMS implementation, enhancement, migration, and upgrade projects.
  • Collaborate with laboratory operations teams to identify process improvement opportunities.

Healthcare Interoperability & Integration

  • Define requirements for integrations between LIS and healthcare systems such as:
    • EHR/EMR platforms
    • Hospital Information Systems (HIS)
    • Billing Systems
    • Diagnostic Instruments
    • Patient Portals
  • Work with technical teams on HL7, FHIR, API, and interface requirements.
  • Support data mapping, validation, and testing activities.

Stakeholder & Project Collaboration

  • Act as a liaison between business users, laboratory leadership, vendors, and development teams.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and UAT reviews.
  • Support project planning, risk identification, and issue management.

Testing & Validation

  • Create test scenarios, test cases, and traceability matrices.
  • Coordinate System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and defect management.
  • Validate business requirements and ensure successful solution deployment.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure solutions align with healthcare regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Support compliance initiatives related to HIPAA, CLIA, CAP, FDA, and laboratory quality standards.
  • Maintain documentation according to organizational governance standards.



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in healthcare, Life Sciences, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of Business Analysis experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS/LIMS).
  • Strong understanding of clinical laboratory workflows and diagnostic operations.
  • Experience with healthcare interoperability standards including:
    • HL7 v2.x
    • FHIR
    • APIs and Web Services
  • Proficiency in creating:
    • BRDs
    • FRDs
    • User Stories
    • Process Flows
    • Functional Specifications
  • Experience working in Agile and/or Scrum environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with leading LIS platforms such as:
    • Epic Beaker
    • Cerner Millennium Pathet
    • Sunquest
    • SCC Soft
    • Orchard
    • Lab Vantage
    • STARLIMS
  • Experience supporting reference labs, hospital labs, pathology, molecular diagnostics, or microbiology workflows.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards and regulatory compliance.
  • CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or equivalent BA certification.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud-based healthcare platforms (Azure/AWS).
  • Knowledge of Healthcare Data Warehousing and Analytics.
  • Exposure to AI/ML initiatives in laboratory and diagnostic workflows.
  • Experience with healthcare digital transformation programs.
