Job Description

Position: Lead Field Service Technician (Lifeboats)<br />Job ID: LFST1<br />Location: UK Home Based Rate/Salary: £60,000<br />Type: Permanent<br />Benefits: Pension, Life Assurance, 26 days plus BH and more. HSB Technical Ltd is a specialist recruiter within the Power &amp; Propulsion, Shipbuilding, Shipping &amp; Energy and Fire &amp; Security sectors. We have a number of permanent and contract vacancies for multiple businesses across the UK and overseas. Working as the Lead Field Service Technician you will commission, service, inspect and repair Life Saving Appliances, with a particular focus on Totally Enclosed Mechanically Propelled Survival Craft (TEMPSC). Working both onshore and offshore, you will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with customer requirements and industry standards. You will take ownership of each project from the initial job briefing through to completion, preparing all required documentation, tools, travel arrangements and technical information before attending site. You will be responsible for producing accurate service reports and maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer service. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of SOLAS regulations and marine safety standards, with the ability to work independently, travel extensively and confidently represent the company while delivering exceptional service to customers worldwide. Duties and responsibilities of the Lead Field Service Technician:

  • Carry out the inspection, servicing, commissioning and repair of lifeboats and other life-saving appliances at customer sites focusing on the UK and Europe, with some rare long distance travel
  • Complete work scopes safely, efficiently and to agreed timescales.
  • Liaise with the Service Team and Regional Manager to report technical issues, safety concerns, critical defects and additional work requirements.
  • Produce accurate service reports, inspection records and supporting documentation, including photographic evidence where required.
  • Conduct inspections and testing in accordance with SOLAS regulations, manufacturer specifications and company quality standards.
  • Carry out on-site risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and ensure all work complies with health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Ensure all PPE, tools and equipment are maintained and fit for purpose.
  • Clearly explain inspection findings, critical defects and recommended remedial work to customers and vessel management.
  • Identify opportunities for additional maintenance or repair work and support the preparation of quotations.
  • Represent the company professionally at all times, delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Participate in job debriefs and provide detailed technical feedback to support future service work.
  • Support workshop operations when based onshore, assisting with refurbishment, repairs and preparation of equipment as required Qualifications and requirement for the Lead Field Service Technician:
  • Driving Licence
  • Ability to Travel Overseas on helicopters, planes and vessels as work will be on vessels, oil rigs and more.
  • Happy to be away from hoom for up to 3 weeks at at time (jobs can last 2 days to 3 weeks) This vacancy is being advertised by HSB Technical who have been appointed to act as the recruitment consultancy for this role
