Quick Overview
Job Description
R&D Design & Development Engineer (Injection Moulding)
Powys (On-site) £40,000 – £50,000 + benefits
Are you a hands-on Design Engineer who enjoys bringing products to life—from concept through to manufacturing?
We’re recruiting for an R&D Design & Development Engineer to join a growing, fast-paced engineering team delivering high-quality injection moulded products into global healthcare markets. This is a practical, design-focused role where you’ll be heavily involved in CAD, prototyping, and real-world product development—not just managing projects from a distance.
If you enjoy working on tangible products, solving engineering challenges, and collaborating across teams, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a business scaling both its capabilities and international reach.
The Role
You’ll work within a small, collaborative R&D team, taking ownership of product design and development activities across the full lifecycle—from concept through to manufacturing handover.
This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys seeing their designs transition into production.

- Design and develop injection moulded components and assemblies
- Drive innovation to improve usability and manufacturability
Injection Moulding & Manufacturing
- Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles, specifically for injection moulding
- Work with toolmakers and suppliers on mould design considerations
- Support manufacturing teams with product optimisation and cost reduction
- Contribute to process and design improvements
Testing & Compliance
- Assist with Verification & Validation (V&V) activities
- Support product testing and development validation
- Ensure compliance with ISO13485 and regulated design processes
Collaboration & Improvement
- Work cross-functionally with Quality, Operations, and Regulatory teams
- Contribute to technical documentation and design records
- Participate in FMEA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives

- Experience in product design & development in a manufacturing environment
- Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks or Solid Edge)
- Experience or exposure to injection moulding
- Good understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM)
- Ability to work independently in a small, technical team
Desirable
- 3–5 years’ experience in R&D would be great, but not a must
- Experience in regulated industries (medical devices, pharma, FMCG)
- Understanding of ISO13485 and V&V processes
Why Apply?
- Work on real products you can see, test, and improve
- Join a growing R&D function with strong long-term career potential
- Be part of a small, high-impact engineering team
- Gain international exposure (Asia & US travel opportunities)
- Play a key role in delivering products to global healthcare markets
