Position Overview

We are seeking a Metrology Technician with experience in dimensional inspection, optical measurement systems, and medical device manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in contact and non-contact metrology, advanced OGP SmartScope programming, Keyence optical profilometers, and blueprint interpretation using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). This role involves performing precision measurements, analyzing inspection data, and collaborating with engineering teams to support product quality and manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspections of medical devices and components using contact and non-contact metrology equipment.

  • Develop, program, and execute advanced inspection routines using OGP SmartScope systems.

  • Operate Keyence optical profilometers and other optical measurement equipment.

  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications.

  • Collect dimensional measurement data using optical comparators, digital microscopes, white light scanning systems, hand gages, micrometers, and calipers.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand measurement requirements and determine appropriate inspection methods.

  • Analyze measurement results, investigate discrepancies, and recommend practical solutions to measurement-related issues.

  • Maintain accurate inspection records, measurement data, and technical documentation.

  • Handle biohazardous materials when required, following applicable safety procedures.

  • Support additional metrology laboratory and inspection activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of relevant experience in metrology, dimensional inspection, measurement engineering support, or a related field.

  • Experience performing contact and non-contact metrology inspections.

  • Advanced programming experience with OGP SmartScope inspection systems.

  • Hands-on experience operating Keyence optical profilometers.

  • Proficiency in reading engineering blueprints and interpreting GD&T requirements.

  • Experience using optical comparators, digital microscopes, and white light scanning systems.

  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools, including hand gages, micrometers, and calipers.

  • Strong mathematical skills, including trigonometry, for dimensional calculations and measurement analysis.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation, data analysis, and reporting.

  • Strong attention to detail, measurement accuracy, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and work independently or collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in medical device manufacturing or regulated laboratory environments.

  • Familiarity with medical device quality systems and inspection documentation.

  • Experience supporting product development, manufacturing transfer, and sustaining engineering activities.

  • Understanding of quality engineering processes, verification and validation documentation, risk management, and change control.
