We are currently recruiting for two experienced Learning Managers to join a secondary school in Tameside on a full-time basis, starting as close to 2nd November as possible and running until Christmas, with the potential for the roles to continue longer.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior pastoral professional who can confidently manage student behaviour, support learning expectations and work closely with students, parents and school leadership.

The school is looking for candidates with a strong background in senior pastoral leadership, including former Senior Leadership Team (SLT) members, experienced Heads of Year, senior pastoral staff or professionals with experience working within Alternative Provision (AP) settings. Previous senior-level pastoral experience is essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead on pastoral support, student behaviour and the implementation of school expectations.

  • Manage parental communication professionally and confidently, resolving concerns where possible.

  • Uphold the school's behaviour and learning policies consistently.

  • Support students with behavioural, pastoral and emotional needs.

  • Undertake student supervision duties and support the day-to-day operational running of the school.

  • Make confident decisions independently, escalating to senior leadership when appropriate.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider pastoral team to promote positive student outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience in a senior pastoral role within a secondary school.

  • Previous experience as a Head of Year, senior pastoral leader, member of SLT or within an AP setting.

  • Excellent behaviour management, communication and organisational skills.

  • Confidence dealing with parents and managing challenging situations professionally.

  • The ability to work independently, use initiative and make sound decisions.

  • A proactive, reliable and professional approach.

Working hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00am-4:00pm

  • Friday: 9:00am-3:30pm

  • 30-minute lunch break

Contract: 2nd November until Christmas, potentially longer.

If you have the senior pastoral experience required and are available for this opportunity, we would love to hear from you!

Please apply with your up-to-date CV, highlighting your relevant experience.
