Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and engaging educator to support a bright sixth-grade student who is academically capable but needs help developing stronger academic habits, organization, and independence.
Areas of Support
- Organization of assignments, materials, and schoolwork
- Study skills and effective preparation for assessments
- Following multi-step directions carefully
- Breaking larger assignments into manageable steps
- Consistent assignment completion and follow-through
- Checking work for completeness and accuracy
- Showing organized, clear work in mathematics
- Developing stronger written responses and complete answers
- Supporting handwriting and overall written presentation
- Building independence, confidence, and accountability
Experience working with middle-school students, ideally sixth grade or similar age.
Direct experience with executive-function support, including organization, time management, task initiation, follow-through, and study skills.
Strong academic coaching skills across multiple subjects rather than expertise in only one academic area.
Ability to teach students how to break down assignments, follow multi-step directions, check their work, and produce complete responses.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with students and parents.
A structured, patient, encouraging, and accountability-focused approach.
Ability to build independence and sustainable academic habits, rather than simply completing work alongside the student.
Teaching, tutoring, special education, learning support, academic coaching, or related educational experience preferred.
$60-80 per hour
