Job description

Lead Software Engineer | Vue.js

Salary: £80,000 - £100,000
Location: UK
Type: Permanent

Lead Front End development, influence architecture and stay close to the code.
I'm recruiting a Lead Vue.js Engineer for a global software business developing products that help organisations manage risk, compliance and operational performance.
The team is investing in an established enterprise platform, with a focus on modern engineering practices and practical use of AI assisted development.
This role would suit an experienced Vue.js engineer who enjoys solving technical problems and helping other developers progress.

The role
You will lead a small engineering squad, combining Front End technical ownership with people management.
Around 60% to 70% of your time will involve hands on engineering. You will develop features, direct AI agents, review output and make architectural decisions. You will also work closely with Product and Back End colleagues to turn requirements into reliable, maintainable software.

What you will be doing

  • Leading Front End development using Vue.js.
  • Shaping Front End architecture, component design and coding standards.
  • Reviewing code and AI generated output for quality, maintainability and performance.
  • Working with Product to clarify requirements and create clear implementation specifications.
  • Collaborating with Java Back End engineers on integration and technical decisions.
  • Improving automated testing, CI/CD and development tooling.
  • Owning squad delivery, resolving blockers and raising risks early.
  • Supporting engineers through regular one to ones, feedback and development planning.

What you will bring

  • Strong commercial Vue.js experience, supported by a thorough understanding of JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
  • Experience building and maintaining complex web applications.
  • Confidence making Front End architectural decisions and explaining your reasoning.
  • Experience providing technical leadership, reviewing code and coaching developers.
  • A good understanding of Front End testing, performance and maintainable component design.
  • Practical interest in AI assisted engineering and the ability to assess its output critically.
  • Strong communication skills across technical and product teams.
  • People management experience, or clear readiness to lead a small team.
  • Experience working with Java Back End services or AWS hosted applications would be useful.

Why consider it?
You will have a direct influence on Front End engineering within your squad, with room to shape technical decisions and improve how the team works. There is an existing AI engineering environment to build on and a wider programme of platform investment.
