Fire Assessor Senior Consultant

Salary range: £60,000 per annum - £80,000 depending on skills and experience. 

Location: Bristol / Hybrid

Job Description

The successful Fire Assessor Senior Consultant will lead in delivering fire strategies, fire risk assessments, and design-stage consultancy services. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the Fire Assessor Senior Consultant will help ensure support safety of Critical National Infrastructure such as submarines, power stations and explosives facilities.

This opportunity allows the Fire Assessor Senior Consultant to develop Occam Group Ltd’s service delivery in Fire Engineering and Assessment, while supporting the development of junior staff and supporting our Fire Assessor associates on existing projects. The new Fire Engineering and Assessment service will include Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations, fire dynamics, compartmentation, evacuation modelling, and passive/active fire protection solutions.

Duties to include

• Developing fire safety strategies, reports, technical notes and sketches, ensuring compliance with fire regulations.
• Leading or contributing to design reviews, assessing fire safety risks and proposing practical, effective solutions.
• Conduct fire engineering analysis, including smoke and evacuation modelling, temperature spread calculations, and structural assessments.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, and statutory authorities, ensuring fire safety measures align with project requirements.
• Work with advanced computer modelling software to perform fire dynamics assessments and simulations.

Essential Requirements

• A degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Fire Protection Technologies or a related discipline.
• Experience conducting fire risk assessments and developing fire strategies.
• Experience working in safety-critical environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with clients, design teams, and regulatory bodies.

Desirable Requirements

• Consultancy experience.
• Hands-on proficiency with fire modelling tools.
• Knowledge of Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR).
• Experience in critical national infrastructure environments.
