About the Role

Are you a meticulous financial professional with a passion for precision and a knack for navigating complex financial landscapes? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our client’s team, where you will be instrumental in safeguarding the integrity of their financial disclosures. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining trust and supporting the firm’s reputation for excellence.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and meticulously review mutual fund financial statements, comprehensive shareholder reports, and other essential regulatory reporting deliverables.
  • Develop and review detailed workpapers and supporting schedules for financial statements and audits, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Scrutinize accounting transactions, general ledger accounts, and reconciliations to uphold U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) standards.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts with internal business partners, including Fund Accounting, Legal, Tax, and Valuation teams, as well as offshore resources and external auditors, to resolve complex accounting, reporting, and disclosure matters.

What You’ll Bring

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy, coupled with a robust aptitude for numbers.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet stringent deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear and concise articulation of financial information.
  • A collaborative spirit, with the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment and contribute to shared goals.

  • Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including principles of financial statement presentation and the reporting of financial data.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • 2-4 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, or audit.

Bonus Points

  • Knowledge of GAAP and SEC accounting and reporting requirements specifically applicable to mutual funds and investment companies.
  • Experience utilizing Donnelley Financial Solutions (“DFIN”) ArcReporting application.
  • CPA certification.
  • Experience with U.S. GAAP and/or SEC reporting requirements.
  • Previous experience within the mutual fund, ETF, or broader investment management industry.

Client Description

This client is one of our largest financial services clients. But don’t let that stop you from reading further!

We place so many freelancers here who consistently tell us its one of the best places they’ve worked. Why? The teams, the culture, the management, and most recently, the client’s willingness to recognize that it was important to step up to the digital demands of the marketplace:

  • A new CMO and high level digital leadership that have transitioned in from top technology, retail and CPG companies

  • Transitioning their marketing structure to Agile methodology to be able to deliver valuable content to its audiences faster

  • They even followed this up with a floor remodel, to support the methodology, creativity & collaboration

We hear often that the constant here is change. The company is consistently trying new approaches that they think will improve not only their product offerings but the worklife as well. If you’re used to “going with the flow”, this is a great opportunity for you!

These are key elements to be able to walk away with and add to your resume, especially if you’re coming from a traditional marketing structure. What a great way to help transition your career in this trending direction!
