Quick overview
Job description
You Are:
This role is a senior architecture leader operating across the FSA enterprise, responsible for driving architecture initiatives and setting technical direction across a large, complex account with a diverse technology footprint — spanning AI/ML-driven capabilities, call center/contact center modernization, cloud infrastructure (AWS GovCloud and Commercial, Azure, GCP), enterprise networking/connectivity, and the DevOps toolchain that underpins delivery (Terraform/IaC, GitLab CI/CD), FedRamp-SaaS tooling & integration. The person in this seat is expected to independently lead initiatives, not just execute direction handed to them — identifying where architecture needs to evolve across the account, building consensus across teams and stakeholders who don't report to them, and carrying initiatives from concept through delivery. They are a peer technical leader to the Architecture Lead, with their own portfolio of ownership, who also adds leadership depth and continuity for the account as a natural consequence of operating at this level
The Work:
- Enterprise Architecture Leadership:
- Drive architecture initiatives across the account's technology portfolio — call center/contact center platforms, cloud infrastructure, networking/connectivity, and application modernization — not limited to reviewing others' designs
- Set and enforce technical direction consistent with existing security-first/FedRAMP Moderate/DISA STIG defaults (encryption, least-privilege IAM, secrets management) across the account
- Own architecture decisions and reviews for a defined scope with full authority — escalation to the Lead becomes the exception, not the default
- Handle live technical and client escalations within their scope in real time Cross-Account Coordination
- Act as the connective tissue across engineering teams working on different parts of the account's technology stack, resolving integration and design conflicts between teams that don't share a reporting line
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the account — technical and non-technical — needed to drive initiatives that span team boundaries
- Represent architecture decisions and account-wide technical status in client/stakeholder settings Cloud & DevOps Platform Ownership
- Guide IaC practices (Terraform preferred) across teams — module structure, state management, security scanning
- Own or heavily influence GitLab CI/CD pipeline standards and DevOps practices across the account
- Drive AWS architecture decisions (GovCloud primary) with the same security-first, observability -forward (Dynatrace/Splunk) standards used elsewhere in the account Networking & Connectivity
- Own or heavily influence enterprise networking architecture decisions — site-to-site connectivity, hybrid/multi-cloud network design, VPN/Direct Connect strategy, segmentation, and routing
- Ensure networking designs meet the same security-first and compliance (FedRAMP/DISA STIG) bar applied elsewhere in the account
- Serve as the account's go-to technical authority for networking questions that cross team or cloud boundaries AI Adoption Partnership
- Assist in the account's AI adoption efforts, partnering directly with the teams driving AI/ML and GenAI initiatives rather than owning that roadmap independently
- Help evaluate where AI capabilities create real architectural or operational value, bringing a security/compliance lens to proposed use cases
- Act as a connector between AI-focused teams and the broader engineering organization to keep adoption efforts aligned with account-wide architecture standards
Here's What You Need:
- 12+ years of enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or technical leadership experience.
- 5+ years of cloud architecture experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
- Experience with Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD automation practices.
- Experience leading enterprise-wide architecture initiatives and influencing cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of FedRAMP, NIST, DISA STIG, and security-first architecture principles.
- Experience with enterprise networking and hybrid/multi-cloud connectivity architectures.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage executive, technical, and client stakeholders.
Bonus Points If:
- Experience supporting large federal government programs or enterprise-scale public sector environments.
- Familiarity with AI/ML, Generative AI, and the architectural considerations for secure AI adoption.
- Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or similar tools.
- AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, TOGAF, SAFe, or related architecture certifications.
- Experience modernizing call center/contact center platforms and customer engagement solutions.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
The Extras:
- US Citizenship Required
- The ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance is required for this role
