Job Title: Senior Software Engineer – Java/Python Big Data
Location: Rockville, MD

Required Skills:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and/or Python; Node.js is a plus.
• Strong object-oriented development and RESTful API design.
• Strong experience with Microservices architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies, especially Apache Spark, EMR, Presto/Trino, and Athena.
• Experience designing and developing large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with batch and streaming data processing.
• Strong knowledge of Data Lake/Data Warehouse patterns, partitioning, schema management, and Parquet/ORC/Avro formats.
• Strong SQL performance tuning experience.
• Experience with AWS Glue, Step Functions, and/or Airflow.
• Experience with relational databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora.
• Experience with NoSQL databases: DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra.
• Strong AWS experience with EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, ECS, API Gateway, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, IAM, and VPC.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with CI/CD, test automation, unit testing, DevOps, and software security.
• Strong system design and performance optimization experience.

• Amazon Q or other AI-assisted development tools

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain applications that ingest and analyze multiple data sources.
• Build scalable Big Data processing and ETL/ELT solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Participate in architecture and technical strategy discussions.
• Identify and resolve technical risks and dependencies.
• Support production systems and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Optimize application performance, code, and infrastructure.
• Ensure code quality, security, testing, and adherence to development best practices.

Important Requirements:

• FINRA experience required.
• Candidates must be available for an onsite interview on October 6, 2026.
• Candidates should be comfortable with the required onsite schedule in Rockville, MD.
