Position Overview

Our hospital client is seeking an experienced Epic Anesthesia Analyst to support the implementation, optimization, maintenance, and ongoing support of the Epic Anesthesia application. This role will partner closely with anesthesia providers, perioperative leadership, clinical teams, IT, and other Epic application teams to ensure the system effectively supports safe, efficient, and streamlined anesthesia workflows.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Epic Anesthesia functionality and perioperative workflows, with hands-on experience in application build, troubleshooting, testing, documentation, and optimization within a hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Epic Anesthesia application throughout implementation, optimization, maintenance, and ongoing production support.
  • Analyze current anesthesia and perioperative workflows and translate clinical and operational requirements into effective Epic solutions.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize Epic Anesthesia functionality based on organizational requirements and Epic best practices.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, anesthesia staff, perioperative leadership, nurses, and other clinical stakeholders to identify system needs and workflow improvements.
  • Participate in requirements gathering, workflow analysis, design sessions, application build, testing, validation, and deployment activities.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and provide timely resolution for production problems, workflow challenges, and system defects.
  • Investigate issues by analyzing application configuration, workflows, integrations, and related Epic applications.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, including unit testing, integrated testing, regression testing, and end-user validation.
  • Participate in Epic releases, upgrades, enhancements, and optimization initiatives, including impact analysis and regression testing.
  • Assist with system configuration, dictionaries, preference lists, records, rules, workflows, and other application components as applicable to Epic Anesthesia.
  • Work collaboratively with related Epic applications, including OpTime, Orders, ClinDoc, ASAP, Willow, and other perioperative/clinical applications, as appropriate.
  • Support integration and interoperability efforts involving anesthesia documentation, clinical devices, monitoring systems, and other hospital systems.
  • Analyze system performance and identify opportunities to improve anesthesia documentation, clinical workflows, efficiency, and usability.
  • Create and maintain application documentation, workflow diagrams, configuration documentation, test scripts, issue logs, and support procedures.
  • Provide end-user support and assist with education and training for anesthesia and perioperative staff when needed.
  • Participate in change management, governance, prioritization, and application enhancement processes.
  • Communicate technical information effectively to both technical teams and clinical stakeholders.
  • Maintain awareness of Epic functionality, healthcare IT trends, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices relevant to anesthesia and perioperative care.
  • Participate in on-call or after-hours support as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, Nursing, or a related field, or equivalent healthcare IT experience.
  • 3+ years of healthcare IT experience, preferably supporting Epic applications in a hospital environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Epic Anesthesia is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Epic application configuration, troubleshooting, testing, and production support.
  • Strong understanding of anesthesia and perioperative clinical workflows.
  • Experience working directly with physicians, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other clinical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to translate clinical requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Epic Anesthesia certification.
  • Experience with Epic OpTime or other perioperative applications.
  • Experience supporting Epic implementations, upgrades, or optimization projects.
  • Experience with integrated testing and end-to-end clinical workflow validation.
  • Knowledge of Epic interoperability and clinical device integrations.
  • Experience working with anesthesia information systems or perioperative technology.
  • Previous experience working as an Epic Analyst, Clinical Systems Analyst, Application Analyst, or similar role within an acute-care hospital.
  • Experience participating in Epic governance, workflow redesign, and application optimization initiatives.
