Quick overview
Job description
High performance isn't a given. It’s built on standards.
Standards that have driven McLaren for over 60 years.
And if you’re ready for the challenge, that standard is yours to own.
Burning enthusiasm. Constant improvement. The thrill in the pursuit of better.
That’s how we build a legacy. And how you build a career here.
Because racing isn’t just something we do. It’s who we are.
We are racers.
Are you?
Purpose of the Role
You’ll help ensure the integrity, accuracy and audit readiness of Cost Cap reporting. You’ll take ownership of transaction validation, exception management, controls, reconciliations and supporting evidence processes.
Acting as the first line of review for Cost Cap data and reporting activities, you’ll resolve routine issues, maintain robust controls and prepare supporting schedules. You’ll also help drive continuous improvement in data quality, process efficiency and automation across the Cost Cap framework.
Principal Accountabilities
- Monitor accounting transactions for coding anomalies, incomplete information and unusual Cost Cap treatments, investigating exceptions and working with transaction owners to resolve routine issues.
- Execute assigned Cost Cap controls, undertaking completeness, integrity and population checks while maintaining clear evidence and remediation records.
- Prepare recurring reconciliations between financial records, Cost Cap populations, supporting systems and reporting schedules, investigating and documenting reconciling items.
- Prepare first drafts of Cost Cap schedules, working papers and supporting analysis, carrying out validation and reasonableness checks ahead of management review.
- Maintain audit-ready evidence repositories and coordinate supporting documentation from Finance and wider business stakeholders, including audit sample preparation and request tracking.
- Maintain reference data, mappings, ownership records and registers used across Cost Cap processes, including relevant classification structures and data sets.
- Identify opportunities to standardise, streamline or automate recurring activities, supporting the testing and adoption of improved reports, analytics, controls and workflows.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
You’ll bring experience from an administrative, finance, accounting, data, operations or analytical environment, alongside strong attention to detail and good numerical and analytical skills. You’ll be comfortable working with data and reports, following defined processes and controls accurately, and managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
You’ll need strong written and verbal communication skills, confidence working with colleagues across the business, and the ability to investigate routine issues, gather supporting information and maintain accurate records and documentation. A proactive approach to learning and continuous improvement is essential.
Experience supporting financial reporting, reconciliations, controls or data quality activities would be beneficial, as would an understanding of finance, accounting or regulatory compliance principles. Experience with ERP, finance or business systems, audit support, evidence management, governance, reporting, data analysis or process-improvement tools is also desirable.
You’ll be highly organised and detail-focused, analytical and naturally curious, with a proactive approach to solving problems. You’ll work collaboratively across functions, remain resilient when priorities compete, and continually look for more effective ways of working.
Success in racing comes from bringing together talented people with different skills, perspectives and experiences. We're committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone feels supported and empowered to deliver their best work.
Every role has the potential to drive high performance. You'll be part of a team united by a shared ambition to push boundaries and embody our racing mindset. We invest in our people through opportunities to develop and grow, creating an environment where individuals and teams can thrive.
Alongside a range of wellbeing initiatives and development opportunities, we're committed to helping you build a rewarding career and make your mark at McLaren Racing.
