The Role:

De Beers London (DBL) is a brand with a rich heritage as part of De Beers Group, renowned for its expertise in diamonds and luxury jewellery. The People Advisor role is dedicated De Beers London (DBL) within the Brands & Diamond Desirability Business Unit. This is a global role and will support the Global Lead People Partner DBL who is responsible for leading the development and execution of key people initiatives and programmes that support and underpin the wider people strategy. The advisor role will work hand in hand with the Global Lead People Partner helping to support the DJL Leadership Team to align DBL’s strategic objectives with People initiatives.

Role Purpose

The People Advisor will provide expert people guidance and employee relations support to Managers and employees at DBL -  translating people policies and frameworks into practical, consistent and compliant solutions that enable business performance and a positive employee experience. Whilst the role will support the whole business, it will be responsible for partnering with the store managers within retail for the west.

People Advisory

  • Act as the first point of contact for managers and employees, providing practical guidance on People policies, procedures and processes, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, absence management and employee relations matters.
  • Provide responsive and professional support to People leaders, managers and employees on People-related queries, ensuring a consistent, high-quality and customer-focused service.
  • Support managers in navigating routine employee relations matters, applying sound judgement and escalating complex, sensitive or high-risk cases to the Senior People Partner as appropriate.
  • Partner closely with the People Operations team to identify trends and provide insights on areas such as absence, employee engagement, workforce data and employee lifecycle activity.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of People processes, policies and employee experience by identifying opportunities to simplify ways of working and enhance service delivery

Talent Management & Development

  • Support talent, succession and performance management activities across the business.
  • Coordinate annual talent and performance processes, including tracking actions and maintaining records.
  • Help identify development needs through talent reviews, employee feedback and business requirements.
  • Support learning and development programmes, including professional skills, diversity and career development initiatives.
  • Contribute to employee engagement, career growth and talent retention initiatives.

Organisational Design & Development

  • Support organisational design activities by maintaining organisational structures, updating job descriptions and coordinating changes agreed by business leaders and senior people team members.
  • Assist managers and employees through organisational changes by providing guidance on people processes, timelines and policy requirements, escalating complex matters where appropriate.
  • Support the implementation of change management activities, helping to communicate changes, coordinate actions and ensure a positive employee experience during periods of transition.

B&DD People Team

  • Serve as a key member of the B&DD People Team, providing support to peers, stakeholders and senior management.
  • Support the review, maintenance and continuous improvement of People processes and procedures to ensure alignment with employment legislation, company policy and best practice.
  • Capture and share stakeholder feedback regarding processes and ways of working, identifying opportunities for service and process enhancements.
  • Contribute to inclusion and diversity activities by supporting campaigns, maintaining records and preparing people-related data and reporting as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in an HR Advisor role, or an experienced Senior HR Assistant offering first line support and advice, ideally within a luxury and/or retail setting
  • CIPD or HR qualification preferrable
  • Able to analyse information, identify issues and support the resolution of people-related challenges.
  • Demonstrates good judgement and takes ownership of assigned responsibilities, seeking support when required.
  • Effectively manages competing priorities and delivers work to agreed deadlines.
  • Shows curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset, contributing suggestions to improve processes and ways of working.
  • Proven knowledge of HR systems and databases
  • Understanding of industry trends related to the luxury category, market dynamics and commerciality.
  • Knowledge of current employment legislation and HR best practices

  • Uses own initiative to continuously improve processes or working practices
  • Excellent communicator who challenges status quo in a tactful manner
  • Ability to build strong, credible relationships
