Managing Environmental Health Scientist – Oakland, CA
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. No sponsorship is available for this position.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Manage the workload and staff in the Health Science Group for Human Health Risk Assessment (HHRA) and Environmental Justice (EJ) analysis, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), and Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) across various geographic areas in North America.
Duties include:
· Project Management & Task Delegation and Supervision: Design overall HHRA methodologies; delegate quantitative and qualitative analytical tasks to project staff by providing clear and comprehensive instructions; supervise the execution of analytical tasks; review resulting work products and reports for HHRA, EJ, and litigation projects; perform routine project management activities, including budget management, pre-bill review, and invoice preparation; and ensure alignment with project timelines and quality standards.
· Client & Agency Coordination: Actively participate in client-facing activities and communication with agencies; and prepare presentations for meetings with clients and regulatory agencies.
· Business Development: Actively participate in business development; track emerging regulations (e.g., PFAS, microplastics), technologies, and market trends; and prepare marketing materials, proposals, and cost estimates.
· Team Leadership & Mentorship: Develop, coordinate, and conduct training programs to onboard and mentor team members.
· Tool and Database Development Oversight: Oversee the development of tools to enhance and automate internal risk assessment workflows, such as multi-relational HHRA databases and tools supporting fate and transport modeling, human exposure assessment, environmental health risk calculations, and other quantitative analyses essential for EIAs and ESAs.
· Remote work permitted 4-5 days per week.

Requires a Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related field and 5
years of experience.
Experience must include:
Conducting environmental and health risk assessments in accordance with relevant regulatory requirements, including conducting toxicity assessments, estimating multi-pathway human exposures to chemicals, performing associated fate and transport modeling and food chain modeling, calculating environmental health risks and conducting pathway- and receptor-specific risk source contribution analyses using multi-relational databases, performing sensitivity and uncertainty analyses on risk results, conducting statistical and geospatial analyses of environmental and risk data using Python, RStudio, and ArcGIS, and preparing technical reports for HHRA, EJ, and litigation projects.
Salary Transparency Statement

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $149,365 to $165,000 yearly. This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
