About this role
We are looking for a Research Engineer / Scientist with experience in frontier AI research to join our founding team and push the boundaries of human intent understanding, computer use, and agentic AI. You will own ambitious research bets end to end - from hypothesis and data to training, evaluation, and deployment - working on reinforcement learning, post-training, and continual learning for long-horizon autonomous agents. This is a rare opportunity to shape the research agenda from day one at a stealth-stage company founded by leaders from Tesla AI, Google DeepMind, NVIDIA, Physical Intelligence, and Apple. We welcome candidates ranging from fresh PhD graduates with strong internship experience to senior researchers who have led teams at top labs.
What will you be doing?
  • Running experiments and training frontier AI models focused on human judgment scaling, computer use, and intent representation learning
  • Post-training LLM and multimodal agents using reinforcement learning and continual learning methods
  • Working with large-scale screen recording and behavioral data to build models that learn how individual users work and proactively automate tasks
  • Designing and executing rigorous research experiments to improve the underlying AI models powering autonomous agent capabilities
  • Helping define Centaur's research direction as an early team member, with direct impact on technical architecture and product
Requirements
  • 2 - 10 years of experience as a research engineer or research scientist. Fresh PhD graduates w/o industry experience ok to apply.
  • Actually done frontier research on LLMs—specifically post- training, reinforcement learning, or frontier research on large language models.
  • Hands- on applied research or research engineering experience (internships, seminal research papers)
  • Frontier research experience (LLMs, reinforcement learning, post- training)
  • Hands- on applied research engineering experience (building complete systems, driving large- scale experiments)
  • Experience in specialized ML techniques (representation learning, vision encoder pre- training)
Education
  • PhD candidate is acceptable, if their research is in RL, post- training, LLMs, or aligned frontier models
  • Bachelors and Masters degrees acceptable combined with AI lab experience and frontier research..
