Quick Overview
Job Description

Be a part of sharing special places and shaping lasting memories with Australia’s leading experiential tourism business.
ABOUT US:
Outback Spirit Tours offers a range of unique adventure tours, desert safaris and luxury short stays across our beautiful country. Our adventures capture the very essence of Australia, from the rugged red cliffs of the Kimberley to the unspoiled natural wonder of Tasmania, we bring iconic experiences to life. We operate 8 lodges in some of the most remote, inaccessible and beautiful locations. Our team of guides, drivers, camp and operations staff are passionate about the outdoors and take pride in bringing our guests on the adventure of a lifetime.
Australia’s leading experiential tourism group, Journey Beyond, is privileged to operate 20 brands spanning the country and New Zealand, connecting guests to the land, and to each other.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking experienced Fishing Guides to join the Outback Spirit team at one of our remote Arnhem Land lodges.
This is a guest-focused role where your primary purpose is to deliver safe, engaging and memorable fishing experiences. While fishing expertise is essential, success in this role comes from your ability to connect with guests, tailor experiences to all skill levels, and share your knowledge of the region, its waterways and wildlife.
You’ll lead either blue water or estuary fishing tours, working with a diverse range of guests including first-time anglers, experienced repeat visitors, corporate groups and high-end clientele. Above all, we’re looking for guides who put the guest experience first, rather than their own fishing agenda.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome guests and set the tone for an exceptional experience
- Lead safe, informative and engaging fishing tours for guests of all abilities
- Share expert knowledge of blue water or estuary fishing, local conditions, tides and seasonal patterns
- Educate guests on local wildlife, ecosystems and the unique beauty of Arnhem Land
- Ensure guest safety at all times, including correct use of fishing equipment
- Respond to emergencies and administer first aid if required
- Prepare, maintain and store fishing equipment, ensuring all gear is clean, safe and operational
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of vessels
- Assist with lodge operations and general duties during non-fishing periods
Employment Type:
- Casual positions: Available during the Run-off (February – April) and Build-up (October – end of November) seasons.
ABOUT YOU:
You’re an experienced Fishing Guide who thrives in remote environments and genuinely enjoys sharing your knowledge with others. You take pride in creating memorable experiences and understand the importance of professionalism, safety and excellence service.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in blue water or estuary fishing
- Strong knowledge of NT tidal movements and local fishing conditions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A calm, safety-focused approach with the ability to act decisively in emergencies
- A hands-on attitude and willingness to support lodge operations as required
- Demonstrated experience reversing trailers and confidently launching boats
You MUST hold the below licences:
- Coxswains ticket.
- Approved NT Operators Licence, or willingness to obtain
- Remote First Aid Certificate.
- Manual Drivers Licence.
BENEFITS INCLUDE:
- Competitive daily rates, including FREE accommodation and meals.
- Generous discounts on Journey Beyond travel and experiences.
- Purchased Leave options.
- Employee Referral Program.
- Discounts on private health insurance.
- Access to an Employee Assistance Program.
- Exclusive discounts on Journey Beyond merchandise.
