Client is seeking an experienced Senior Datastage Engineer with deep expertise in IBM DataStage, PySpark, and Mainframe technologies to join a high-performing client delivery team in McLean, VA. In this hands-on contract role, you will design, develop, and modernize enterprise ETL solutions, helping transform legacy batch processes into scalable, high-performance data pipelines.

Working closely with business and technology stakeholders, you''ll play a key role in modernizing critical data assets while ensuring quality, reliability, and performance across the data ecosystem. This role requires on-site engagement in McLean, VA.

What You''ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise ETL solutions using IBM DataStage, integrating data across multiple platforms and applications.
• Modernize legacy mainframe batch processes (including COBOL, JCL, and VSAM) by translating existing logic into efficient DataStage jobs and supporting migration toward modern data platforms.
• Develop and optimize PySpark-based data processing solutions to support large-scale data transformation and modernization initiatives.
• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and engineering teams to deliver robust, scalable, and well-documented data solutions.
• Troubleshoot production issues, optimize ETL performance, and ensure high standards for data quality, reliability, and operational support.

What We''re Looking For

• Extensive experience developing enterprise ETL solutions using IBM DataStage with strong hands-on expertise in PySpark and Mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, VSAM).
• Proven experience designing complex ETL workflows, data integration solutions, and batch processing frameworks within enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of modern cloud data platforms and data engineering concepts, including Snowflake, AWS, and data migration strategies.
• Experience working throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in client-facing consulting environments.
