Description
SAIC is looking for a Systems Engineer to serve as a Senior Systems Administrator with experience in US Navy IT networks to support the sustained operation and maintenance of a newly deployed US Navy enterprise transport network, ensuring 24/7/365 availability and reliability. The position will support end-to-end network, system, and element visibility; facilitate rapid operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning to maintaining the operational integrity of a mission-critical network, requiring both technical expertise and a commitment to excellence in service delivery. This is shift work covering 24/7 operations.
Work will be performed at the Navy customer's site in Suffolk, VA.
Specific Duties Include:
  • Provide Tier 2 level engineering operations support to quickly identify, triage, and address outages, analyzing symptoms and potential root causes to implement effective resolutions or escalate to Tier 3 support as required
  • Utilize advanced monitoring tools and processes to oversee network infrastructure, monitor the performance and availability of managed services and systems across multiple exchange points, and ensure optimal performance
  • Perform day to day maintenance, fixes, configuration corrections, software and hardware updates, and deployments
  • Adhere to system and operational reporting obligations
  • Operate and maintain the privileged access solutions
  • Maintain continuous verification of failover processes and disaster recovery procedures
  • Operate and maintain hardware upgrade process and procedures
  • Update and maintain any software builds applicable to deployed equipment
  • Operate and maintain asset management processes and procedures
  • Operate and maintain configuration management
  • Enact change management for the solution
  • Operate and maintain existing incident management processes
  • Keep firmware, software updates and patches up to date for equipment

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related discipline and two (2) years of relevant experience in enterprise architecture and supporting a large network infrastructure. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree

Required Security Clearance:
  • Active TS/SCI required

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with the following: Linux and Windows Server deployment and administration; Active Directory and Group Policy; DNS; Python, BASH, Powershell, or similar; Ansible (Tower), Puppet, Chef, Terraform, Containerization, Jenkins, or similar; and deploying VMs within VMWare vSphere
  • Experience with the following a plus: Nautobot, RHEL Satellite, InfoBlox DDI, RedHat Linux 8
  • Working knowledge with Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Virtual Private Network devices
  • Understanding of TCP/IP in regards to routing and subnetting
  • Windows Server / Active Directory

Required Certifications:
  • IAT Level II required (Sec + and OS Certification). Six month waiver authorized to obtain OS Cert.

Working Environment and Travel:
  • Must be able to work shifts to cover a 24x7 operational environment to include weekends.
  • Able to cover on-call schedule on a rotating basis

Desired:
  • Certifications are considered a plus: CompTia Linux+, RedHat Linux, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
