Job description

Who are we? 👋

CreditorWatch is entering its next chapter — and it’s an exciting one.

We’re a leading Australian data and technology company transforming how businesses manage commercial risk, make credit decisions and improve cash flow. Since 2010, we’ve built a strong position in the market, helping thousands of businesses make smarter decisions through our data, insights and technology.

Following our acquisition by global private equity firm Warburg Pincus, we have a new opportunity to build on that success and take the business to the next level. With an established platform, ambitious growth plans and plenty of opportunity ahead, we’re focused on scaling our impact and shaping what comes next.

We’re also proud to have been recognised as one of the AFR’s Top 10 Best Places to Work and certified by Great Place to Work across 2022–2025. For people who want to make a meaningful impact in a growing business, this is an opportunity worth exploring.

Our Purpose

✅ Empower Australian businesses to trade confidently with their customers.

Our Mission

🏆 We aim to be number one in our industry by delivering unique data insights and innovative products.

Your role & team 🚀

A newly created role!

We're looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Lead to own and evolve the cloud platform, infrastructure security and internal automation capabilities that underpin CreditorWatch.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll shape our AWS strategy, strengthen security and build scalable infrastructure capabilities that support our growing engineering organisation.

A key focus will be moving infrastructure towards a self-service model, giving engineering teams the tools, reusable patterns and built-in guardrails to move quickly and securely without unnecessary bottlenecks.

You'll work across Engineering, Engineering Operations, Security and the wider business, balancing technical delivery with longer-term platform strategy, reliability and developer experience.

📍 Location: Sydney CBD

💼 Working arrangements: Full-time, hybrid

🤝 Reporting to: Head of IT & InfoSec

What you'll own 🔍

☁️ Cloud platform & infrastructure

  • Own our AWS platform strategy, architecture and governance, ensuring secure, scalable and reliable foundations.
  • Build and maintain reusable Terraform modules, infrastructure as code standards and self-service provisioning capabilities.
  • Improve observability, performance, resilience and cloud cost optimisation.
  • Establish clear platform patterns, documentation and golden paths that simplify infrastructure delivery.
  • Partner with Engineering Operations on cloud infrastructure, CI/CD and developer experience.

🔐 Cloud security & compliance

  • Own Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), driving measurable improvements in AWS security and compliance.
  • Implement and mature AWS security controls, including Control Tower, Service Control Policies, Security Hub, GuardDuty and AWS Config.
  • Embed preventative controls and security policies into infrastructure code and automated workflows.
  • Strengthen production workload protection, monitoring and CrowdStrike coverage.
  • Partner with Information Security and Security Engineering on ISO 27001, SOC 2 and customer assurance requirements.

🤖 Internal platforms & automation

  • Own the security, reliability and maintainability of internal AI and automation platforms, including n8n and LiteLLM.
  • Build scalable foundations for AI agents, automated workflows and emerging internal tools.
  • Establish appropriate governance, access controls and operational standards that enable teams to innovate safely.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve productivity across the business.

🗺️ Strategy, leadership & enablement

  • Translate strategic priorities into practical roadmaps, phased delivery plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Balance security, reliability, cost and developer experience when making technical decisions.
  • Align Engineering, Product, Security and business stakeholders on priorities and technical direction.
  • Champion infrastructure as a self-service platform, enabling engineering teams to move independently within clear guardrails.
  • Coach teams, promote reusable patterns and establish clear ownership across Cloud Infrastructure and Engineering Operations.

What success looks like in your first six months 🏁

  • Self-service by default: Engineering teams can provision common infrastructure through reusable Terraform modules and secure, standardised patterns.
  • Stronger cloud security: AWS CSPM scoring exceeds 80%, with improved control coverage and automated policy enforcement.
  • Protected production workloads: Core services have consistent monitoring, security coverage and governance.
  • Clearer ownership: Cloud Infrastructure and Engineering Operations have an effective collaboration model and well-defined responsibilities.
  • Reliable internal platforms: AI and automation tools operate on secure, scalable and maintainable foundations.
  • A roadmap in motion: Infrastructure priorities are clearly defined, delivery is underway and progress is measured against meaningful outcomes.

What you'll bring 🧠

  • AWS expertise: Experience building or maturing AWS platforms used by multiple engineering teams, including ECS Fargate, Lambda, S3 and RDS.
  • Infrastructure as code: Strong Terraform experience, including reusable modules, state management, testing, versioning and governance.
  • Cloud security: Practical experience with CSPM, AWS-native security controls, cloud governance and compliance.
  • Platform engineering: A track record of building self-service infrastructure, reusable patterns and workflows that improve developer experience.
  • Technical leadership: Experience leading cloud, infrastructure or platform engineering capabilities while remaining hands-on across architecture and implementation.
  • Strategic execution: The ability to turn technical strategy into prioritised roadmaps and measurable improvements.
  • Sound judgement: You balance security, reliability, cost and developer experience without over-engineering or creating unnecessary friction.
  • Communication & collaboration: You can influence stakeholders, explain complex technical concepts and guide teams towards better practices.
  • Experience with Datadog, CrowdStrike, GitHub Actions, n8n or LiteLLM will be highly regarded.

A note on AI ✨

Use it. We'd think less of you if you didn't.

We see AI as an opportunity to improve how we work, and we're interested in people who are already experimenting with it in practical ways.

Write the first draft of your application yourself, then use AI to sharpen it rather than replace your thinking. You can also expect to use AI during at least one stage of the interview process. We're interested in how you work with it, not whether you can work without it.
