Responsibilities
The Capex Operations Manager is a player-coach operations lead who strengthens the systems, processes, and operational discipline behind capital project execution across NA Capex Engineering. This role combines hands-on ownership of portfolio operations, reporting, governance, and compliance with day-to-day coaching and support for Project Coordinators. You will help create the structure that improves visibility, reinforces consistency, and enables stronger project delivery across the business.Core responsibilities include:Purchase ordersGoods receiptInvoicingCapitalizationProject setupRole is primarily administrative/clerical with operational support elements.Will support both Capex project work and Technical Services team needs.
What You'll Do
Lead PMO systems, procedures, and policy execution to support consistent capital project deliveryManage onboarding and systems/process training for new Project Managers and Project CoordinatorsOwn system issue resolution, ticket management, and user supportMaintain user SOPs and reinforce adherence to company's policies and engineering processesProvide direct coaching, support, and workload coordination for Project CoordinatorsGuide PC onboarding, role development, escalation handling, and day-to-day execution supportSupport performance management and help elevate consistency and effectiveness across the PC teamConduct project file audits and operational health checks to improve quality and complianceProvide portfolio support through KPI reporting, milestone tracking, demand reporting, and 90-day TPR/CAR trackingFacilitate monthly BU Capex Review meetings and support site calls led by Engineering leadershipAssist with CWIP compliance, capitalization tracking, and project closeout activitiesSupport CAPEX planning activities, including 1YP and 3YP processesOwn PITR and TPR process coordination, including template review, pre-read preparation, meeting minutes, and action trackingFacilitate and document KPFF and greater-than-$5M TPR meetings
What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months:
Build strong credibility as the operational lead for core PMO systems, reporting, and governance routinesImprove consistency and responsiveness in issue resolution, onboarding, and user supportStrengthen Project Coordinator effectiveness through coaching, clearer workload management, and practical supportIncrease visibility into portfolio health through reliable KPI, milestone, and demand reportingReinforce compliance and process discipline across PITR, TPR, CWIP, capitalization, and closeout activitiesHelp simplify operational friction so project teams can spend more time on execution and less time on administrative work
Skills Required:3-5 years of SAP experienceExperience navigating multiple systems/platformsBasic understanding of SQL/databasesBackground in: Finance, Purchasing and Accounts payable / receivingExperience supporting engineering or technical teams preferredNo CAPEX experience required
Experience in PMO operations, project operations, capital portfolio management, or engineering operationsAbility to operate as a player-coach, balancing direct execution with coaching and support of othersStrong project governance, reporting, compliance, and process management capabilityExperience onboarding, training, or enabling teams on systems and ways of workingStrong facilitation and stakeholder coordination skills across functions and business unitsAbility to manage competing priorities and maintain follow-through in a fast-paced environmentStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsComfort working across reporting tools, systems, templates, and process documentationStrong communication skills, including meeting facilitation, action tracking, and escalation managementHigh ownership, sound judgment, and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in engineering, manufacturing, capital projects, or operations environmentsExperience supporting Project Coordinators, analysts, or similar operational rolesFamiliarity with capitalization processes, CWIP compliance, and project closeout requirementsExperience with PITR, TPR, SharePoint, and portfolio reporting rhythms
