Civil Project Engineer | Transmission & Offshore Infrastructure
Contract: 6 months, with possibility of extension
Location: Remote UK with occasional travel to Scotland
Salary: £750 - £800 per day via Umbrella PAYE

Turner Lovell is supporting a leading UK transmission network operator who are looking for a Civil Project Engineer to join an established engineering team delivering major transmission infrastructure projects across its offshore and island portfolio.

This is an opportunity to work on technically complex projects supporting the UK's transition to Net Zero, including infrastructure associated with HV substations, offshore connections and HVDC systems.

The role is focused on civil engineering technical support, design review and assurance, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external contractors throughout project development, detailed design and construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide civil engineering support across major transmission projects from development through design, construction and handover.
• Review and technically assure civil designs, drawings, calculations and technical deliverables produced by consultants and contractors.
• Support civil engineering scopes covering substations, earthworks, access roads, drainage, foundations, buildings and cable route interfaces.
• Assess designs against project requirements, engineering standards and technical specifications, identifying technical risks and constructability issues.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces across Civil, Geotechnical, Plant, Cable and Protection & Control engineering.
• Support design reviews, technical queries, design changes and engineering assurance activities throughout project delivery.

Ideal Background & Skills

• A degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong civil engineering experience within major infrastructure or energy projects.
• Experience with civil infrastructure associated with HV substations, including foundations, earthworks, roads, drainage, buildings and cable interfaces.
• Strong experience reviewing civil engineering drawings, specifications, calculations and contractor/consultant designs.
• An understanding of engineering assurance, design governance and multidisciplinary technical reviews.
• Good knowledge of relevant British and international engineering standards and codes.
• Strong understanding of CDM Regulations, Safety by Design and design risk management.
• Experience identifying technical risks, constructability issues and engineering interfaces.
• Experience supporting Technical Queries, deviations and design change processes.
• Previous experience working for, or closely with, a transmission network operator, utility, EPC or engineering consultancy would be advantageous.
• Chartered Engineer status, or progression towards professional registration, is desirable.
