Job Description

Head of Technology

£120,000-£140,000 | Permanent | City of London | 3 days per week in the office

McCabe & Barton is working with a specialist financial services business to appoint a Head of Technology .

This is a broad leadership role with responsibility across the full technology estate, including applications, infrastructure, data, cyber security, architecture, vendors and technology operations .

The successful candidate will inherit a technology environment that makes significant use of outsourced partners and third-party platforms. A key part of the role will be building the right internal capability, while continuing to manage and challenge external suppliers effectively.

Candidates should have:

  1. Broad technology leadership experience across applications, infrastructure and data
  2. Strong experience within financial services or another regulated environment
  3. Applications experience, ideally across lending, mortgages or specialist finance
  4. A track record of building or reshaping an internal technology capability
  5. Strong experience managing outsourced technology providers and strategic vendors
  6. The judgement to determine what should remain outsourced and what capability should be brought in house
  7. Strong technology risk, cyber security and governance experience
  8. Executive-level stakeholder management skills
  9. A practical, hands-on problem-solving mindset

This is not an infrastructure-only or service-management role. We are looking for someone who has genuinely operated across the full breadth of technology and can provide leadership across both strategy and delivery.

The role

You will take overall ownership of technology strategy, service delivery, applications, infrastructure, data, cyber security, supplier management and technology risk.

You will also play a central role in shaping the future operating model, improving vendor performance, strengthening internal ownership and building a technology capability that can support the continued growth of the business.
