Job Description

CIVIL ENGINEER (LAND DEVELOPMENT) 

Experience: approximately 2-3 years (flexible for strong candidates outside this range)

Work Authorization: no visa sponsorship.

Candidates must already be authorized to work in the US without employer sponsorship.

Position Overview

Design of private subdivision and land development projects across residential, retail, commercial, industrial and institutional sectors in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The role works independently on smaller projects and supports Senior Designers and Project Managers on larger ones.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare sketch plans, site plans, grading plans, utility plans, roadway plans and utility profile plans.

- Support layout and design development through the project lifecycle, and assist with subdivision and land development plan packages.

- Prepare technical drawings, reports and submissions; support documentation and submission packages.

- Review zoning ordinances, subdivision and land development regulations, stormwater management requirements and other municipal and agency requirements that affect the design.

- Support stormwater management design, stormwater calculations, and erosion and sediment control design.

- Meet regularly with Project Managers, coordinate goals, schedules and technical requirements, and give regular updates on assigned tasks.

Required

- About 2-3 years of progressive experience in private subdivision and land development design, with hands-on civil engineering design.

- Experience preparing site plans, grading plans, utility plans or roadway plans.

- Fundamental understanding of stormwater management and of erosion and sediment control design.

- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

- Strong time-management, written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with Project Managers and Senior Designers.

Strong Plus

- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field.

- Engineer in Training (EIT) designation.

- Experience with Southeastern Pennsylvania land development projects, subdivision and land development submissions, zoning and municipal ordinance review, and regulatory agency requirements.

- Experience supporting projects from concept through permitting and approval.

- Working knowledge of Hydroflow, Microsoft Word and Excel.
