Job Description

Finance Business Analyst

Location: Melbourne - CBD and Inner Metro suburbs

Reference: VG/014264A

Salary: $100,894 - $114,476 (plus superannuation)

Role: A Finance Business Analyst provides analytical support and advisory services, acting as a bridge between the central finance team and specific business units to ensure budgets are managed effectively. The role places a strong emphasis on continuous process improvement, data analysis and automation, to drive financial performance and operational efficiency within the team and across the department.

Main accountabilities
  • Perform data analysis and provide insights into financial performance to support decision making.
  • Work with group stakeholders, coordinating internal budget builds, funding allocations, and monthly reporting for specific branches or projects using the department's systems.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice to business units to ensure compliance with the Financial Management Act 1994, standing directions, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives across budgeting, forecasting and reporting activities. Leverage digital tools and automation to streamline manual workflows, increase efficiency and improve reporting capability.
About You
  • Data Literacy: Ability to utilise advanced Excel formulas, pivot tables and data chart generation.
  • Financial skills: Excellent financial skills including the ability to clearly articulate the financial implications of policy decisions and transactions.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Ability to determine additional information needed to make informed decisions and apply critical thinking and problem solving concepts appropriately.
  • Finance or accounting degree and/or professional qualification such as CA or CPA is highly desirable.
