Construction Project Manager

We are looking for an experienced to join an established construction business and take responsibility for the successful delivery of projects from pre-construction through to completion.

This is a hands-on role suited to a Project Manager with a strong main-contracting/building background, ideally gained across commercial refurbishment, industrial, manufacturing, stadiums, leisure, fit-out or other technically complex environments.

You will take ownership of project delivery, working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, commercially and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of allocated projects.
• Manage projects from pre-construction and procurement through to completion and handover.
• Develop and manage project programmes, ensuring key milestones and deadlines are achieved.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and site teams.
• Manage procurement, subcontractor packages and material requirements.
• Monitor project progress, costs, quality and programme performance.
• Work closely with the commercial team to maintain financial control.
• Manage variations, changes and contractual requirements.
• Identify and manage project risks, issues and opportunities.
• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and client requirements.
• Maintain strong communication with clients and provide regular project updates.
• Coordinate design information and resolve technical issues where required.
• Ensure health & safety and quality requirements are maintained throughout delivery.
• Lead project meetings and coordinate actions through to completion.
• Manage snagging, commissioning and handover.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced construction with a proven track record of delivering projects for a main contractor or building contractor.

Experience across one or more of the following would be particularly relevant:

• Commercial construction
• Commercial refurbishment
• Industrial projects
• Manufacturing environments
• Stadiums and sports venues
• Leisure and hospitality
• Commercial fit-out
• Design & build projects
• Technically complex construction projects

You should have strong experience managing subcontractors and multiple project packages, together with a good understanding of programme, procurement, commercial control and construction delivery.

Key Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Project Manager within construction.
• Strong main-contracting/building experience.
• Experience managing subcontractors and supply chains.
• Strong programme and procurement management skills.
• Good commercial awareness and understanding of project costs.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong client and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Good understanding of health & safety and quality requirements.
• Relevant construction qualifications preferred.
• SMSTS and relevant construction management qualifications advantageous.
